Prestidigitator, I should just copy your last post, scratch out "Plattsburgh State", and type in "North Park".

You and I can have our own little contest to see which one of our home town teams can go the longest. We play our first game tonight against Clarkson and then travel to Skidmore on Monday. That one scares me a bit. Your Parkers have a softer non-conference schedule than my Cardinals now that you've got by the Maroons. You probably won't lose until you get into conference play, unless Dubuque roughs you up. Plattsburgh could lose any one of their first 9 games.

I watched your broadcast the other night of the game between Chicago and North Park. Exciting game to say the least.

Where do you sit in relation to the camera angle that comes in at half court and shows a table (scoring table, I assume) and across the gym way up high is a platform (camera platform?). Are you ever on screen?

I'm not sure that I agree with you. Defiance won both the HCAC regular season and the HCAC tourney last year, beat UW-Whitewater and made it to the second round of the dance, and finished 22-7. Baldwin Wallace is always a tough customer, as Bald Wally put together a nice 18-9 campaign a year ago. Trine went 17-9 and played in the MIAA tourney championship game last season; the Thunder are picked to finish second in the MIAA preseason poll, and anytime that somebody breaks through the perennial Hope/Calvin hegemony in that league, it makes you sit up and take notice. Alma went 12-14 last season, but the Scots won seven of their last nine, including wins over Hope and Calvin. They should be pretty good this year, too. Coe went 16-10, and I expect the Kohawks to be a tough out again this season.

So that's five other opponents besides Dubuque that I think are capable of taking down the Vikings. Plus, I've heard that Adrian appears to be much improved, and the Vikings have to travel around the lake to face the Bulldogs on their own floor next week. And it's never a picnic to have to play Albion, either. The Britons historically play some of the toughest defense among midwestern D3 teams, and defense-oriented teams always seem to do a better job of hanging around and making games close than do offensive-minded outfits, even when the other team's got more firepower. Just ask Augustana, which only eked out a four-point win over the Britons last season in Augie's gym.

Really, the only two games that I think will be walkovers for NPU are Illinois Tech and Covenant.

Rarely. I don't want to scare away our viewers. ;)

I sit immediately to the right of the broadcast camera, with my back to the south wall of the gym in the top row of the bleachers, so my view is essentially the same as the viewer's. The camera platform across the gym on the north wall is the one used by the team for taping purposes. (They don't really use videotape anymore, but the term persists.) As you surmised, the scorer's table is down below me in the middle of the south bleachers.

hope1's Stevens Point survives a St.Olaf comeback and wins 68-65. No worries, the Pointers only host Knightslappy's Hope this weekend.

I'm trying to survive both pools by picking teams who don't begin play until Nov. 20.

Of all the teams you mentioned that would knock North Park out of the Undefeated Pool, Trine is the only one that mattered.  Sorry Greg.

Sarah Lawrence beats Pratt 92-38, so I'm out of the winless running.  :'(

When a winless nominee wins by 54 points, I assume you forgot to check their schedule!  (Either that, or you didn't get the memo that Pratt shut down their bball program, and just sent the pep band!) ;D

I had checked their schedule on the Massey Ratings site, but it didn't have the Pratt game pulled in. I discovered the game later and realized I was doomed.

Doesn't matter.  They have a permanent place here.  We might as well name the board after them - the UMPI Memorial Undefeated and Winless Watch

Did anyone pick Lancaster Bible for undefeated?  They destroyed Franklin & Marshall today, by 28.  There's nobody even close to that good on their schedule the rest of the way.

Until recently, the Caltech Winless Watch would have been even more appropriate - but they are getting downright decent! ;D  Very good article about them in this week's SI.  (I doubt anyone will EVER even approach their 310 game conference winless streak.)

A great line from the SI article.  Caltech makes NO admissions exceptions for athletes.  A recent highly sought recruit didn't get admitted.  He had to settle for his 'safety school': MIT!! ;D
