Cool nickname though......Gogebic Samsons

Also I believe that's Finlandia's shortest road trip of the year, Hancock to Ironwood.  I also just realized the Lions will be making an appearance about 2 blocks from me in February at Great Lakes Christian.

And as we napped... or followed a different game.... 3 of our 6 winless teams won yesterday!!!

LaVerne wins at Chapman 68-60 in what had to be a stunning upset..
Penn State-Berks wins at home vs Gallaudet 88-81

and in an incredible world record any level from toddler to seniors, offensive output, copied directly from the D3hoops scoreboard:
Bard    676    Rochester Tech    80    Final   • *

ok,ok  a quick check of the box score shows RIT won 80-67.... and Bard remains winless

1st amusing response to this wins + karma!!!!
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

A little surprised that LaVerne got the win over Chapman, I would of thought Cal Lutheran or Caltech were more likely spots for them to gather a victory.

Maybe 676 is Bard's point total for the season?  ;)

It does look like a few winless teams have a real battle to get a single win this season. Maine-Presque Isle from the winless vs D3 group (of 1) should still win a handful of games, but Bard, CCNY and Finlandia may need some divine intervention to escape the grips of the winless grim reaper.

Great work as always hopefan.

Looking forward - Games of extreme interest.

Colby - 2/1 @ Massey #19 Tufts 2/8 vs. Massey #36 Amherst.

Favorable schedule as well, as Hamilton, Amherst, Bates, and Wesleyan all have to make the trek to Waterville in the bleak midwinter.

Swarthmore - 2/12 @ Massey #22 Johns Hopkins

1/25/20......    Maine Presque Isle.. or UMPI... falls off the Winless vs D3 only list.. beating Maine Maritime, 86-78... Congrats to the Great Nor'easters!!!

Our lists are now reduced to :

Undefeated  (2)     Swarthmore and Colby

Winless  (4)   CCNY, Bard, Finlandia, Lesley
..
Just out of curiosity... what was the closest each winless team came to a win?

Bard lost its opener of the season to Becker in OT 72-67... they've lost by double digits in each of the rest of their games..Bard had a one point lead vs Becker in regulation, but Becker made a free throw with 3 seconds left to send the game to OT

CCNY has lost twice in OT... They lost to Connecticut College 83-81 in one that CCNY will never forget... CCNY up by 17 with 4:02 left, conn college scores the next 17 to go to OT!!!!!  CCNY up 1 in OT, Conn Coll hits a 3 with 11 secs to win..                CCNY also lost 103-99 in OT to Medgar Evers..CCNY made a 3 at end of regulation to tie, but lost in OT

Finlandia lost to St. Scholastica in OT 92-85... The Saints gifted Finlandia by missing 2 FTs with 1 second on the clock to put the game to OT, but Finlandia failed to take advantage...  Finlandia had no more games vs D3 opponents, so the best they can hope for is to "advance" to the winless vs D3 only list..

Lesley has not come close to tasting victory... closest game was just this past Saturday when they lost to Dean by 7.... of course in the game previous to that, they lost to Mitchell 104-59.... They do have Dean again, and several other teams with big losing records... there is hope...

1/28/20       CCNY gets their 1st win of the season, beating Staten Island, 79-70

BUT... Staten Island is no longer a CUNYAC D school.. they are NCAA-D2 this year, despite playing a full CUNYAC schedule..

So.. CCNY moves to the Winless vs D3 only category..

Bard, Finlandia, and Lesley still winless
Colby, Swarthmore still undefeated

Of course that win counts in the CUNYAC standings for CCNY, so maybe you make an exception and count it as a d3 win.  I believe it will count in regional ranking criteria, as well - there was an exception made this season because of CSI's sudden departure.

no it doesn't...CSI is playing a double round robin CUNYAC schedule but their games are not considered league games. CCNY is  1-17 (0-8 CUNYAC) and still winless against D3.

My bad.  The conference isn't counting them, but the NCAA Championships committee approved using CSI games towards post-season qualification, so they will show up in regional ranking information.  That's in the Sept meeting report.  The NCAA considers CUNYAC games against CSI to be in-region d3 contests.  I don't think that waiver applies to non-conference games, though.
