cabs - you're on to me  ;)  I picked Hope with the knowledge that I most likely wouldn't be the first one "off the island" since their opener is tonight.

speaking of "off the island"....   go boomer!!!!  He dodges another bullet this past Thursday!!
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Mr. Ypsi

Last year there was a quite tiresome debate about how high an undefeated but untested team should be ranked - I think it was awfully considerate of St. John Fisher to short-circuit this year's rerun by losing their opening game! ;)

(Of course, that does not guarantee that SOMEONE will not emerge as this year's SJF!)

hopefan

Ypsi  You Credited hoopsfan for Ramapo - I don't know whom he chose, but I chose Ramapo and I'm Hopefan - Hoopsfan is probably some long distant 2nd cousin in the family tree, or maybe we look alike!!!

Bethany loses to Case Western Reserve?  *shakes head sadly*  What a way to be sent off the island!   :-[

I had it written down as hopefan, but typing it in past midnight...!  I've corrected the post (and added Ralph to those picking MC).

Mr. Ypsi

Unless I overlooked someone, the only action today was Ramapo (picked by, among others, hopefan!) staying alive at  2-0.

Hoops fan mentioned them, but I have a vested interest in wanting Mississippi College to lose.

I wasn't aware a vested interest in wanting Miss. College to lose was considered a vote of confidence and a pick for them!  ???

I actually did have you down for them, then deleted it from my table when I re-read your post.  Got a little confused, I guess.

Those of you who read along last year remember we tracked all perfect records through the season - some of us has more fun tracking the winless than following the undefeated.  We gushed over Centenary's "perfect" record, giving them publicity only to be found on this page.  Well, I congradulate them here and now, as they'll get no recognition of that type this year, jumping into the winless wannabe catagory for the year, with a win over Emerson.  Wonder who some of our winless contestants will be this year????   Stay tuned.

Speaking of winless, even if they are ladies, we may have to follow CCNY's team after the performance of this weekend.  To lose their openers by 91 and 112 might be too good to pass up.  How many games can we headline :"CCNY Ladies Show Progress, lose by 80"?????
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

smedindy

There's always Medaille!

Yeah, those CCNY scores were brutal, weren't they.

And then there's the perennial Cal Tech watch for both genders.

The men play BOTH Southwestern and Trinity of Texas. Ralph - can you give us a point spread?
Wabash Always Fights!

hopefan

smedindy, you are so right regarding Caltech... at least the men's side...  They are a leading candidate to go perfect this season.  Last year, they started out with a win early vs Life Bible... well, Life is not on their schedule this year.  In fact, there appears to be no softies on their schdule.  U Dallas, Rivier, or Cornell may be their best opportunities for a win unless one of the SCIAC schools is much weaker than normal.  There were a couple of interesting points on Caltek's site:
They haven't had a win against a D3 team since 1994-95.
They haven't had an SCIAC win sinc 1984-85

WOW!!!!
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!
