Mr. Ypsi

David,

You may be right about Ralph (though 2 others picked MC as well), but unless you think Q picked Va Wes as a voodoo hex for keeping IWU from the title game (which, I suppose, IS a possibility!), you can stop flagellating yourself for letting down the HoF!  Pretty much ALL of us are going down in flames! ;D

And it's not even December yet! :(

If I'm counting it right (and no more losses already tonight), we have 12 teams (14 pickers) down, 8 teams (10 pickers) still surviving.

Thirteen pickers down, eleven still surviving, actually. You forgot one of the survivors, which is probably because OS inadvertently neglected to embolden unbearable and his pick of Rhode Island College.

This makes me sound like a ninja florist.

Actually, Bob picked VWC because he was a late entry and the Marlins were clearly the best team left that nobody had picked. As he put it, it was like getting LaDainian Tomlinson late in a fantasy football draft. The fact that LaDainian got stuffed at the line of scrimmage against Averett this evening doesn't change the fact that it was still a canny pick rather than a voodoo hex.

However, I will be reaching into the mojo bag for the black cat bones and the John the Conquer root in order to put the whammy on Amherst. Yes, I want to be the last HOFer standing.  ;)

Do we get a special pin to place on the lapels of our HOF jackets if we're the last one standing?

Only HOF curator Pat Coleman can answer that question. But if we do, I hope it's something that goes nicely with the yellow blazer.

That's because he spilled rancid Heinz ketchup all over it and forgot to have it dry-cleaned.

If you recall, here were the loveable losers last year:

Winless vs D3 only
Maranatha Baptist (1-23)
Rutgers-Camden (1-23)
Principia (2-22)
Maine-Presque Isle (2-21)*

Winless
Caltech (0-25)
Daniel Webster (0-25)

this season -

Maranatha has a win, a non D-3 win against Emmaus

Rutgers - Camden is 2-1. They have a win over Curry!

Principia is 0-3 - and even lost to St. Louis Pharmacy

Maine - Presque Isle is 0-4 - but they came close against Mitchell

Cal Tech is 0-5 - but at least they're consistent. In their first three games, they gave up 81 points.

And by gosh, Daniel Webster is 2-1 - beating Johnson State and Anna Maria.

I'd probably have St. Louis Pharmacy tested for steroids.

Thanks for reminding us about the lovable losers from last season.  I'll get back into keeping that list, but probably not until after the holidays.

I'm out.  Rhode Island College loses to undefeated Keene State by 4.  The amusing part is that I honestly was going to pick the winner of this game as my survivor.  I chose RIC over Keene because RIC had no tournament scheduled over holiday break.  I figured if RIC got by this one , they'd have twenty days or so in late December and early January in which they couldn't lose.

Do I get partial credit if Keene State is the eventual winner?

It was nice rubbing shoulders with the hall of famers in here.  Sadly, I will now return to the East region rooms, having to be content with my memories of mid-80s Potsdam glory.... Sigh.
