If I'm counting it right (and no more losses already tonight), we have 12 teams (14 pickers) down, 8 teams (10 pickers) still surviving.

Thirteen pickers down, eleven still surviving, actually. You forgot one of the survivors, which is probably because OS inadvertently neglected to embolden unbearable and his pick of Rhode Island College.

David,

You may be right about Ralph (though 2 others picked MC as well), but unless you think Q picked Va Wes as a voodoo hex for keeping IWU from the title game (which, I suppose, IS a possibility!), you can stop flagellating yourself for letting down the HoF!

Actually, Bob picked VWC because he was a late entry and the Marlins were clearly the best team left that nobody had picked. As he put it, it was like getting LaDainian Tomlinson late in a fantasy football draft. The fact that LaDainian got stuffed at the line of scrimmage against Averett this evening doesn't change the fact that it was still a canny pick rather than a voodoo hex.

However, I will be reaching into the mojo bag for the black cat bones and the John the Conquer root in order to put the whammy on Amherst. Yes, I want to be the last HOFer standing.  ;)

Greg,

I was just anticipating the Keene over RIC game!  (I suppose this would be a more convincing excuse if I had not picked RIC in the Pick Em! ;D)

I recall what Bob said when picking Va Wes.  But don't you think there may have been a LITTLE bit of voodoo jinx involved!! ;)

Just remember - IWU ALWAYS gets their revenge.  Sometimes it is sooner, sometimes it is later, but it WILL happen!  :D

Apparently that was a sign of things to come since they lost!  Oops.  :-[

Gregory Sager (NYU)
Old School (Whitworth, who is already 9-0 with another game today)
Smedindy (Wittenberg, unbeaten survivors of 5 overtime periods)
Point Special (Wooster)
Wooscotsfan (Wooster)

Wooster and Wittenberg play this Saturday in Springfield.

Here it is suvivalists  -  the list you've been waiting for  -  the one we love to follow - those loveable loser's - the winless!!

These are the totally winless - I am not keeping the D3 scores in a data base this season ( wife threatened me with worse than murder), so I could not easily come up with winless vs D3 only

The winless thru Thursdays games are:
Northeast   :  Albertus Magnus (0-6),  East Nazarene (0-8),  Emmanuel  (0-5),  Fitchburg (0-7),  Green Mountain (0-7), Maine Presque Isle (0-5)

East  :  Bard (0-7)  Skidmore  (0-4)

Atlantic -  no more candidates!!!

Mid Atlantic :  PSU Berks (0-6)

South :  Louisiana College (0-7),  Thomas More  (0-7)

Midwest :  Clarke (0-7), Principia (0-5),  Rockford (0-4)

Great Lakes  :  Adrian (0-4),  Earlham (0-5), Hiram  (0-4)

West :  Caltech (0-5),  Concordia Moorhead  (0-5)  Whitman (0-4)

20 in all, we'll follow their exploits the rest of the way!!

I'll keep the d3 only list as soon as out numbers get a bit smaller. I think I'll get around to compiling it after the holidays.

Our unvictorious group of 20 took quite a hit yesterday, with 5 falling off the list  -  Green Mountain had an overtime win vs Paul Smith's, and Clarke, Earlham, Hiram, and Bard each got their first wins.  Rockford headed the loss column with a 44 point loss to Lakeland  -  so we're down to 15 perfect records, (though Albertus and Maine Presqu Isle scores were not yet reported).

Please remember that Clarke is headed to the NAIA next season.

Smed, when Clarke announced what they were doing, I looked at the map.

In Dubuque, they were geographically isolated from the remainder of the NAthCon.
They don't offer football which is mandatory for the IIAC, which is the next logical choice in D3.
There is a concentration of NAIA schools in that part of the Midwest.  Dubuque is roughly where Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin come together.

This appeared to be one of the rare cases (IMHO) where a school could go to the NAIA, and possibly improve their situation.

Gregory Sager

As I said in a conversation with a Clarke fan in the NIIC room last season, Clarke's current enrollment ratio is 71% women, 29% men. The smart thing for Clarke to do would be to start a football program. If the school's braintrust had decided to do that rather than shift from D3 to NAIA they would've not only gone a ways towards evening out their gender imbalance, they also would have become a palatable possibility for IIAC expansion. Loras and Dubuque are right across town, and four of the other seven IIAC schools are fairly close by. Besides, it would've given the league an even number of members (ten).

The problem with joining the Midwest Classic Conference, from Clarke's point of view, is that they're now going to have to offer athletic scholies in order to be competitive in that league.

+1 Greg.  Thanks for the comments.

Greek Tragedy

I don't know the athletic program situation at Rockford, but their soccer team folded about 3 games into the season.  If the basketball team is anything like that, competitive wise, they may not win a game this year.

Old School  -  wonder why Rockford is on that path - as I remember, they were an NIIC contender just tow years ago and had over 20 wins twoyears before that.
