Mississippi College has reloaded again.

The Box Score shows that Coach Lofton gave double-digit miinutes to 10 players, and 13 players had 7 or more minutes in the game against Lakeland.

MIT had every non-injured player on their roster play at least 12 minutes in their game against John Abbott (a total of 12 players).  No starter played more than 17 minutes.  MIT plays 11 games by Dec. 12 and Coach Anderson undoubtedly took this opportunity to give the starters a rest before heading into the final 9 games of that stretch (they play 10 games in 22 days, starting with the one yesterday).

Greg's grin  ;D is huge as Franklin & Marshall pound New York City Tech 102-40. (When did F&M go to their bench?)

Probably about the same time as Bethel did in the Royals' 93-21 win over Nebraska Christian tonight.

Of course, it's easy to beat a team that just dresses five.

The thing that astonishes me is that Bethel scored 93 points in spite of the fact that the game featured a running clock in the second half.

Nebraska Christian isn't even an NCCAA school. It plays at a level below the NCCAA. Bethel has long had a reputation for cupcake-munching in non-conference play, but this has to be a new low for the Royals.

John Abbott?  From Montreal?

Yeah, apparently no one wanted to play in RPI's tournament - except MIT, who will take on all comers.

Yeah, what a great game.  I am assuming that game falls in the "other" category on the D3 vs. board.  MIT was playing the end of their bench 10 minutes into the first half.  John Abbott did beat Cooper Union pretty handily in the consolation game today, however.

By the way, MIT picks up a quality road win over RPI today in the championship of that tourney.  It was a really close game, but rather sloppy.  MIT plays 9 of its 13 out-of-conference games on the road this year.

It was RPI's first game in brand new facility....  it was more like 'Let's get guaranteed win for RPI and MIT to have the ultimate Engineer Championship game'......
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Im not sure about "ultimate".  MIT plays WPI at least twice every year in an all "Engineers" matchup.  Similarly, I think a matchup of "Beavers", MIT vs. Caltech, would also be a pretty good all-engineering matchup (MIT's other mascot is TIM the Beaver).  But I agree with you, you want to win the first game in a new gym, even if it isnt a team that would be competitive with your JV squad.

Calvin falls to Grace Bible 83-68. Knightslappy now gets to root for Wooster.

Well, if he wants to.  But I still say the 'rule' is to root for a team eligible for winning 'survivor'! :P

We're nearly half-gone before the first week is out, with either IWU or WashU guaranteed to be out before the weekend is over.

I'll root for Wooster, so long as their interests don't conflict with my interests.

Thanks; we need all the help we can get.

In other news, St. Thomas stays alive by edging past Wooster, 84-53.  I suspect Wooster may drop out of the top 10 in the next poll.  :-[

Was wooster supposed to play St Thomas the 2nd night of their tourney?  Or did I totally miss St. Thomas losing too?

No, this was the championship game of the tourney.  Wooster actually won last night, over Carnegie Mellon (and UST beat Heidelberg, like a drum).

PointSpecial,

I thought for a brief moment that you might be joining me on the bottom list  :D

Good luck to Point through that crazy WIAC season, and hopefully we will meet again in the sweet 16 this year.

It sounded to me like UPS couldn't hit the broad side of the barn and Point pulled away when they stopped turning it over.  25 TO's...  That's just unacceptable, even if it IS against UPS!

These Pointers are young, though... they'll get better!

When was the last time UPS scored just 55 points?  In 03-04, I know the 79 points we held them to was the lowest score of the year (ironically, that was the most we let up, too!).  It was 81-63 in Wisconsin in 04-05.  Looks like it was '03, Pac Lutheran held the loggers to 46.  Looking at that box score, it seems like it was a similar night... but Pac Lutheran didn't shoot all that well either!

Did the Loggers just miss everything, or did Point's defense keep them from shooting well?

Point,

You are right for about a 7 min stretch in the late 2nd half, UPS couldn't throw the ball in the ocean.  Point played good D and I think the collar might have gotten a bit tight on UPS.  That was our lowest point total in quite some time.  Thanks for bringing up those old UPS/Point scores. lol. It would have been awesome if they would have played a series.  I would have liked for UPS to make adjustments to the press and Point's zone.  As far as that PLU game...wow, that was the most brutal shooting night ever.  That was the year before we started our up tempo and press.  But still it was just awful.

I don't think that UPS will be scoring quite as much this year as they have in years past...they might have to rely on defense more this year.
