And in the "SIDs can whitewash ANYTHING department"

QuoteMaine is coming off a loss at #7 Syracuse that saw the Black Bears score 43 points in ths second half- the most an opponent has scored against the Orange in a half this season.

Maine lost 101-55. Doing some math means that Maine score 12 points in the first half. Oops. The score at the half? 60-12.

And still Boeheim could only afford 1 minute to three walk-ons and 4 to another player. Yeesh. If I was ahead 60-12 after the first half I'd dress the student managers and trainers and maybe that one guy in the fifth row, over there.

Boeheim was the coach of the Syracuse JV team back in the '70s when I was a kid, when Roy Danforth was the varsity coach. You'd think that someone who used to coach the Tangerines (that's what they called Syracuse's JV team) would be a little more sympathetic to the plight of the walk-on.

Have you seen Syracuse's defense this year?  These guys do not have the zone as tight as Boeheim would like; I imagine that's why he left the big guns in for so long.

Wooster was my scary game.  While Wilmington is 5-1, I suspect they are well below JCU.  I doubt that JCU will run the table (that is vanishingly rare in d3), but I think they will be favored in every game the rest of the season.  I can live with that. :D

I think the Mount Union coaching staff saw the lack of respect you gave them in this post (jumping over them and mentioning Wilmington) and used it as bulletin board material. How else can you explain JCU's loss? ;) :D

1. You mean I caused my own demise? :(

2. You mean MUC pays attention to ME? :o ;D

Getting 67 points is for MUC football, not basketball! :D  (Though I suppose it is decades since football allowed the OTHER team 62. :P)

According to his wikipedia entry, Boeheim was a walk-on himself at Syracuse; seems to be even more reason to use his bench in the 2nd half. I saw Jim play frequently with the Scranton Miners team in the Eastern League after his Syracuse playing days had ended.

GS stays alive as Otterbein loses to Ohio Northern (barely) 75-72.

hopefan's Bard loses to SUNY Purchase 91-71. And what were the odds that Purchase's 2-3 won-lost record would also be the date of their return engagement with Bard. ???

It is a heart filled with sadness that I have to announce that Chapman fell from the Undefeated list last night by being handed a tough loss (56-57) against Claremont. As the coach said to his players after the game: "I hope you weren't expecting to go undefeated this season, were you?". Any team on any given day can have an off-shooting night, but when you combine it with the fact that Chapman had the ball with 20 seconds to go and were only down by 1 point, it's a heart breaker. Congrats to CMS who was relentless and never let their guard down (no pun intended...  :P)

hugenerd drenched in perspiration as MIT squeaks one out in OT 98-93 over Salem St.

PointSpecial happy right now as his Pointers GET to overtime.

Stevens Point loses to Whitewater 67-60 in OT and PointSpecial survives no longer. Pool now down to 5 players.

smedindy

UMPI lost 133-58.

So what would have been the margin of a UMPI vs. Syracuse game.

And would Boeheim play the walk-ons THEN?

Mr. Ypsi

Dang!  I wish UMPI had saved some of those opponent's points for a game they might win! :D

[I'm not really as ghoulish as I sound. :P  My dad grew up in Maine, my parents met at the U of Maine, I've been there at least 25 summers of my life.  That's WHY UMPI (besides the irresistible acronym ;)) is my favorite sad-sack team.  I really do wish them well - just not before everyone else in the pool has a win! ;D)

Well the latest you'll be alive is Jan. 23rd. That's the day Paul Smith's comes to town and makes your team a winner....that will make you a loser.

Not if nobody can ever find a score - this IS UMPI we're discussing! ;D

Don't worry Chuck I'll be sure and find that score even if I have to call up Paul Smith's coach to get it. ;D ;)

Mr. Ypsi

I'll count on him refusing to admit it if he lost! ;)

I have great faith that UMPI could win a game and the world will never know! :D
