smed  -  you don't remember the old wide world of sports competition... the lumberjack competition with handling a saw or ax or climbing a tree or log rolling.... ;D ;D ;D

Oh, I know that stuff - I thought it was the Lumberjack competition. To me, woodsmen implies other things - sort of like a Mark Trail type dude.

Looks like Hilbert won a game that isn't included on the d3hoops schedule. Sorry Hoops Fan.

As I feared, I must take myself out of play, Principia beats the Eutectics of St Louis College of Pharmacy, 69-65.....   well, anyone up for a winless against D3 contest.. I'm still alive in that!!!!!

I'll note however that augie77 is till alive with another SLIAC team, Blackburn, as they lost to Lincoln christian 78-76....   Augie 77, I think the Beavers will fall (by winning) when they play Principia in Conference.....
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

And now I can relax and enjoy the rest of the season.  My winless team won their first game, and my undefeated team lost their first game.

For those still in the running:  Since I'm perfect at failing at this, I'm willing to put my support behind any of your fellow competitors you would like to "knock out" of the race  :)

While it is not up on scoreboard yet, WLCALUM83 (a pretty reliable source) reports that Rockford won again (by 4 over Knox).  Perhaps Greg entered Rockford in the wrong category! :D

(And yes, I know they lost their first game before going on this 'winning streak'. ;))

I put about two seconds of thought into it, Chuck. I just threw a couple of likely names out there that hadn't been picked, because someone was calling upon me to join the contest and I didn't want to seem like a wet blanket. Heck, I didn't even bother checking the skeds of Whitworth and Rockford. If I had, I certainly wouldn't have picked Whitworth as my unbeaten survivor, seeing as how the Pirates have to square off against Carthage next.

Mr. Ypsi

Just pullin' your chain, Greg.  Rockford is always a reasonable pick! :P

Have they righted the ship financially, or are they still in danger of totally shutting down?  (I seem to recall you suggesting they might become a branch campus of NIU?)

Then again, Whitworth took down Carthage tonight, so perhaps I should make random snap decisions in these sorts of contests from now on. ;)

You showed good instincts Sager.  WW had the longest win streak in the nation last year, you know.

Instincts, shminsincts. If I had stopped to think for a moment and had remembered that Carthage had Whitworth on the docket, I never would've picked the Pirates. That's much too risky a game this early in the season to accept in a team you're considering for a "knockout" contest.

That'd be me. And if and when Whitworth claims the crown I expect my fair share of the prize money for prodding you along. ;D

Not to mention the fact that you picked the Redmen over the Pirates this week in both the pick em leagues!! :D

Plus Whitworth has to go on the road and play undefeated Lewis and Clark on Dec. 3rd. Lewis and Clark just travelled to and beat Colorado College 90-74 last week 3 days after CC beat D1 Air Force 60-57. Then on 12-20 Whitworth travels to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps to take on the Stags who just beat #1 ranked NAIA DI Azusa-Pacific 81-79.
The Pirates end the year in Las Vegas on 12-30 to take on the above mentioned Colorado College in the inaugural edition of the D3hoops.com Classic. If they are undefeated heading into the new year they will certainly have earned the lofty ranking they will probably be in possession of.
