Yeah, we knew it all along!

Especially when we were picked for 4th in the NCAC and most of us said, "Yeah, that's about right..." We knew Wes Smith would be a stud, but the supporting cast needed to come through. They have!

Well now...the NCAC all of a sudden is hot and happening. They even have a 26-20 record against out-of-conference foes. Heavens to Murgatroyd! We're no longer the OAC's whipping boy!

Heavens to Murgatroyd indeed!

If "OMG" is "Oh my g_d", is "Heavens to Murgatroyd,Lady" "html"?

Well, my unbeaten pick faces it's biggest challenge of the semester...

Eastern Mennonite v Randolph-Macon

If they get past this one, I think I've got a chance...

It's "Carnage Saturday" in the contest! :o

#1 UWSP (augie77), #2 IWU (Mr. Ypsi), and #3 EMU (scout) all fall.  Meanwhile, Caltech (magicman) wins.  (Did I miss any other losers or winners?)

Caltech Wins!

(Over a non-D3)

Hey, any win is a good win! And now Caltech will be tracked in the 'winless vs. D-3' and not the 'winless' portion of this board. Progress!

I looked up American Sports University. http://www.americansportsuniversity.com/

One of their logos said:

"American Sports University - In the city of San Bernardino."

And you know, for a University that is teaching sports management, their athletics web site is pretty pitiful. If you want gear, "the online shop is closed." I mean, yeesh, practice what yas preach.

I don't know if San Berdoo is a drawing card or not?

Instincts, shminsincts. If I had stopped to think for a moment and had remembered that Carthage had Whitworth on the docket, I never would've picked the Pirates. That's much too risky a game this early in the season to accept in a team you're considering for a "knockout" contest.
I would be happy to accept your selection as my own.  It certainly would have been the Pirates :P

Whitworth leads Linfield 39-14 at half. No drama here.

Whitworth looks to be about to pick up their 22nd straight NWC victory.  This weekend was picked to be there most difficult road trip (on paper) in Conference this season to many NWC observers.

I also went to their website because I was pretty sure I had checked it out last year. I had and I still find it hard to believe that's it's a real college. I feel like Caltech won a pickup game. You can't even pull up a basketball page to check out a schedule or results or roster. I was hoping Caltech would break their dry spell against a REAL college when they met Eastern Nazarene next Sunday. Well I guess now it's possible that the Beavers could have a winning streak. 8-) When was the last time they won 2 in a row? ??? Oxy Bob would know the answer to that question. I'm thinking it's been at least 5 to 10 years.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves with respect to Eastern Nazarene.  They are 4-4 this year. with 3 of their losses being by 7 points or less.  They are much improved on previous years.  I hope Caltech wins, but it will be a tough game.

Yeah, they're much improved, although I think Caltech gets bad rap because of how few awful teams they play each year.

Still, I suspect that taking a bunch of New England boys to SoCal in December is going to hurt the focus they bring to the basketball court.
