Mr. Ypsi

I keep telling you guys Caltech's futility has more to do with its geographic location than the strict admission requirements.

I'm not sure some of the rest of you really appreciate how bad some of the NE region teams are.  Eastern Nazarene is much improved this year.  Granted, the trip and the distractions that come with it are tough.  I didn't expect them to win, but I don't think Caltech deserves the poor reputation its received.

I don't think I would let them fly after that loss.  I think I would make them walk.

This also opens up all kinds of chain game possibilities: Caltech beat ENU, who beat Lesley, who beat Curry, who beat Colby....

Well, heady days (daze?) for Cal Tech, now 362 on the Massey Rating. They have 1.58 expected wins the rest of the season, so will they win a SCIAC game?

Green Mountain is last at #412 with a #411 schedule. I may re-do some power rankings if I have more spare time.

Blackburn 71  Concordia St Louis 69

eliminates Augie 77 from winless pool

Blackburn off winless list, but still on winless vs D3 list
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Mr. Ypsi

So, the winless contest is now down to just KnightSlappy (Macalester) and me (Crown). :o

Alas, Crown has Finlandia and a UMAC schedule coming up; I fear I have little chance. :P  Crown is bound to slip up and win one one of these days. :D

May the worst man win.

Crown - #403 in Massey. Their SOS thus far is #97. Expected record rounds to 2-18.

Macalester - #310 in Massey. SOS thus far is #41. Expected record rounds to 2-17.

I say this is a pick 'em, if you want side bets! Macalester is better but has a really really tough schedule coming up. Massey says the game to watch is 1/22 at home vs. Bethel.

Crown's best chance is 1/29 vs. Luther.

Poor augie77 ... knocked out of the winless pool because his choice for the ultimate Futile Five beat a team consisting of grad students. What a way to bow out!

However, you can't deny that any game when Concordia Seminary matches up against the St. Louis College of Pharmacy or Logan Chiropractic is an instant classic.

Between St. Louis College of Pharmacy and Logan Chiropractic I wouldn't know who to root for.........My Chiropractor is very good, but they make some sweet pain killers and muscle relaxers.

caltech will not go winless this year now with a couple years under the belt with their system, true basketball players with significant basketball playing experience who perfectly fit the academic model and a schedule that has winable games on it.  could be wins against carengie melon at MSOE (if they meet), against southwestern (AZ) or west coast baptist in the redlands tourney or ENU, Pac Luth or Wisc Luth at home.  maybe even a win against santa cruz.  conf wise, other than oxy who looks like they have lots of good, young talent, cms who just keeps on winning and redlands who's primed for a breakout year, everyone else in their conf is beatable.  i say that lightly based on history but look at what cal lu, pomona and whittier lost and if they're going to be beat, this is the year to do it.  no vested interest other than knowing how hard the players and staff have worked in the past and how much it would mean to everyone involved with the program after enduring so many lopsided losses.  i say at least 5 wins overall (including at least 1 that breaks the conf losing streak) is a real possibility.

trying not to look ahead, but other than losing one senior, they bring back the entire core of the 2010-2011 team, and with decent 2011 class they be a team that'll be fun to follow.

Caltech on a bonafide winning streak now.  Three in a row.
