The refs? Not even the Wooster faithful are blaming the refs.

Blame Kenyon. Everyone was focused on the Witt / Kenyon kerfuffle and Wabash snuck in and won.

Once more, with feeling.

Undefeated:

Amherst (20-0)
Whitworth (21-0)

Winless:

Polytechnic (0-20)
Philadelphia Bible (0-19)
Green Mountain (0-14)

Undefeated vs. D3 - See Undefeated. No special cases.

Winless vs. D3:

Maine-Presque Isle (5-13, wins vs. Maine-Augusta, SUNY-Canton, Fisher, Maine-Ft. Kent, St. Joseph's (VT))
Millikin (1-18, win vs. Robert Morris - Springfield)

As we all know, Wooster, Middlebury and Augie left the undefeated list since our last update.

Eureka! They have found success! The Red Devils beat Fontbonne yesterday 84-76!

Johnson State also had two wins since our last check-in: against Green Mountain 78-40 then Maine-Maritime yesterday 68-66.

Break up the Owls! Five wins this year!

As usual, the undefeated resolves itself before the winless. Whitworth was an inspired pick.

... which amuses me to no end, since -- as I've stated before -- I don't think I thought more than a few seconds about it before I typed "Whitworth" and posted it, and the only reason why I submitted an entry at all is because magicman was trying to recruit contestants for the survivor pool and I thought I'd humor him.

There is no chance Amherst loses in 2010 with its schedule, and they don't play a really tough road game until FEBRUARY, but I certainly can't take the Lord Jeffs!

Amherst for me!

Inspiration does not have to be agonized over, though. Isn't the definition of inspiration is a sudden *bing* in your head for some reason. There's inspiration, and then there's perspiration. And then there's just dumb fool luck, which I've used in many times in the past.

Survivor Series   Undefeated
For choosing a team with about 2 seconds of thought, Greg has managed to not only reach the final four, but I believe, is now the favorite to win it all. I don't think any team in the country has ran through their conference opponents as handily as the Pirates have. Their average margin of victory in their 15-0 unbeaten run is 20.7 points. No out of conference opponent has come within single digits and only 1 team all year, Puget Sound, who lost 72-65, has managed to stay with 10 points of Whitworth..... But somehow when it's all said and done, I think we'll be wrapping the robe around Mr. Sager while handing him his scepter and crown. It may end up being the best extemporaneous pick he ever made. :D ;D

Not only did I urge you to join the contest, I correctly forecast your victory.

I'd congratulate you guys for being the last 2 standing but I'm too busy being humored.
The least you could do is send me my cut of the prize winnings for coming in 1st and 2nd.

Congrats Greg.  Choosing Whitworth next year might be difficult if I have my way.  Does Greg automatically get the right to rechoose the same team?  :D ;D 8-)

Traditionally it's been first come, first serve.  So, technically, I think you just picked them for next year.

Now, I think we need to actually set some order up here, otherwise, I could just put a permanent claim on a team for each season.

Of course, the charters of the original colonies also had claim to territories until time immemorial and were broken out by longitude, not latitude and ran across the continent. So it may not hold up for ever.
