Gregory Sager's winless pick, Bard, defeated Johnson State 78-73.

And his winful pick St. Mary's (Md) lost to Johns Hopkins on Friday 67-66.

Bringing this forward and marking off the picks that have lost when they should have won or won when they should have lost. I will leave it up to our honorable commissioner (Greek Tragedy) if he wants to give mulligans to those that were begging for one. Personally I would vote no as we haven't done that in past years. And while I sympathize with Ethelred (who chose a team to be winless, only to discover that they had already won a game) it sounds to me like he was Unready when he made his choice. ;) I think the early losers could make a 2nd choice (if they want to) but they shouldn't be eligible for bragging rights if their 2nd choice eventually wins out over another player's 1st and only choice.

Lots of players still alive in the undefeated pool but only 3 players alive in the winless pool with their original picks. KnightSlappy with Macalester, hopefan with Principia, and PointSpecial with Polytechnic.

Sorry this didn't come out in table form like Tom had it. Apparently when you copy and paste a table format it doesn't stay in table format form. So sue me. ??? :P

I went to watch Hobart/Cazenovia yesterday and I have to say, Caz may well win a few more games than usual this year.  Took Hobart to OT and had every chance to win.  And you're right, by definition I am Unready.  Which suits me nicely.

Oy... my winless pick had a tough game today...

http://www.syracuse.com/newsflash/index.ssf/story/njit-dominates-diii-polytechnic-78-28/482c1ea27b014662af3aa791b52076c4

They lost 78-28

EDIT:  I didn't realize that NJIT was D-I... still a tough loss, but a more understandable one, perhaps.

NJIT lost about a bazillion in a row when they first joined D-1. (Acutally, 51 in a row - they had back to back seasons of 0-29 and 1-30).

And, of course, they're in the Great West Conference! Also known as "The Island of Misfit D-1 College Programs"

Mr. Ypsi

I think Mr. Ypsi was trying to pull his old Maine-Presque Isle trick on us. He chose them in the winless pool 1 year because he stated that even if they  should get lucky and win a game they were so isolated that no one would know about it. I don't know how isolated Oberlin Ohio is but there was certainly no mention by the man from Ypsilanti that the Yeomen had indeed won their 1st game yesterday as they took down the Earlham Quakers 76-58. If I was going to take a mulligan in the losers pool I'd have to think the Quakers would be a good choice. They lost again today to fall to 0-3. I'm surprised Mr Y didn't have them as his 1st choice as they visited his hometown back on Oct. 30th for an exhibition against Eastern Michigan. After all when you have a chance to see a team that was 2-23 (0-18 in conf.) last year I would think they might be right up there on your list to get a scouting report on. Perhaps he'd still be alive had he done so. ;D

Dang!  Like I said when I picked, I was going off the top of my head.  I plumb forgot about Earlham (and didn't notice that Oberlin still played them, now that the Quakers have fled to an easier league).  In just about ANY sport, Earlham is a reasonable pick for winless! :P

Do we have a pool for teams who will win only ONE game?! ;D

Mr. Ypsi

Actually, I probably should have gone with Millikin.  In my day, that was the Titans' most hated rival (and back then a powerhouse), and the last couple of years they have fallen to perhaps the worst team the CCIW has fielded in many decades.  I didn't because they have a well-respected new coach, and a 6'9" 'savior' in the fold (and play numerous games against teams even a pathetic CCIW team should beat).  So far, the 6'9" guy has not appeared on the court, they are 0-3, and they may be on their way to a record-setting season of futility.  Too late now for anyone to select what just might turn out to be this season's 'winner'. :P

Augustana (as reported) for the winners pool;  CCIW rival Millikin for winless

I picked Millikin, but note that it hasn't registered on this site.  Like Mr. Ypsi, I think Millikin has the potential to be a real loser for me.  Their schedule is actually more demanding than during last year's 1-25 campaign.

smedindy

I can modify the post above, no problem.

Millikin should hold an invitational with Principia, Polytechnic and Macalester. Who wouldn't want to come to Decatur, IL in December?

Just one change Smeds.  On Nov. 17th, nwhoops switched his pick to Franklin & Marshall when he discovered you already had Wooster.
