I know that the Medger Evers team hasn't been very competitive, but I don't think 47 turnovers is vastly different than a bad game for a weak d3 team.  As a fan of a pretty weak conference to begin with, 25 turnovers is a normal game.  A bad team on a bad night could do 36 without raising my eyebrows much.  So an exceptionally weak team with known ballhandling issues giving up 47 is certainly extreme, but I'm not sure it's worth a Holy Cow.  I think I'd want to see 60 before I got that far.

Regarding turnovers I can remember a game in the SLIAC a couple of years ago where I was loosely keeping stats and I had a team on pace for a turnover a minute... they blew it in the last 5 minutes though and finished with 36

Do you think you could last until 60?

47 is 10 over their average.

Their stat sheet is positively gruesome  http://www.mecathletics.com/custompages/stats/wbball/201213/teamcume.htm?path=wbball#TEAM.IND

FG%  15.1
3FG%  9.3
FT%  35.8
rebound margin -17.6
A/TO ration of .064
turnover margin -245.........24 per game
turnover rate of 54.6%
team efficiency rating of 20.75......ie give them the ball 100 times they avg scoring 20.75 points.

The best team they've played according to massey is Rutgers-Newark who rates #133 and is at best an average D3 womens defensive team.

YIKES!  I've rarely seen 5th grade teams with worse stats than that!  (In fairness, their opponents were also 5th graders, not college athletes! ;))

I've seen a lot of bad basketball.  I once saw a high school game that ended 106 to 8.  There had to have been 60+ turnovers in that one, although mostly steals.

Unfortunately 47 isn't their worst this season... or their second worst. They had 49 (33 steals) against Vermont Tech which was still better than the previous game where they had 56 (34 steals) against Mount St Vincent. I believe their best performances were their opening two games where they had just 27 in each.

The only games Massey doesn't have them at a 0% chance of winning are the two games against York where they're 7% (home) and 3% (road).

But, you really need to hand it to them for going out there and competing. I'm sure there will be better things for them.

Looking at Franciscan's schedule, I think Sac is in petty good shape.....not sure who they'll beat, though D'youville and PSU Altoona still give the rest of us some hope.....

I'm getting the feeling  Franciscan is coming along, they've added a player or two since Christmas and compared to some of the other loveable losers some of their losses haven't been as awful.

All relative of course.

In Undefeated action tonight:

#3 North Central (Ill.)     Won at Elmhurst 71-51

#4 St. Thomas              Won vs Carleton 78-69

#7 Rochester                Won vs RIT 78-48

#18 WPI                      Won at St. Joseph's (Maine) 58-45

In Winless action tonight:

Franciscan                   Lost vs Muskingum 73-62
This team is really running out of chances to win. Only 1 left I think and that's on 1-26 when they play D'Youville at home. They lost at D'Youville 68-65 back on 12-8. They may turn the tables on the 26th. If they lose that one I don't think sac can be beat

Houghton                      Lost at D'Youville 69-60 on 1-2

Lancaster Bible               Lost vs Messiah 63-59 on 1-2

Regis (Mass.)                 Lost at Mass-Dartmouth 80-76 on 1-2

Washington College          Lost at Catholic 79-63 on 1-2

Blackburn                        Lost vs Monmouth 87-54 on 1-2

SUNY Maritime's highest chance of a win is still just 17% (against Polytechnic)

Franciscan has a 44% shot against D'Youville at home and a 24% chance vs. Pitt-Greensburg at home as well.

BTW, Medgar Evers is leading D-3 in turnovers as of 12/16 with 37 per game. So that seems to be the 'normal' outlier. Last year they had the highest at 35 per game as well.

So yeah, I'm all for HOLY COW with turnovers in the 40s, in the norm, for those not familiar with Medgar Evers.

The men's 'leader' is Blackburn with 22.5 per game.
