Franciscan was close at the half but fell short to Pitt-Bradford 62-44 this afternoon and fall to 0-13.  They've now dropped 39 in a row.  I have to hand it to their SID for always finding a positive spin on their results. http://www.franciscanathletics.com/sports/mbkb/2012-13/releases/MBKB010613BRAD

I'm starting to root for these guys and hope I lose this contest.  This has to be tough on them.

games in the next week.  LaRoche, @Medaille

In Undefeated Pool action on Monday night:

#2 St. Thomas  12-0              Won at Bethel 90-48

In Winless Pool action on Monday night:

SUNY-Maritime 0-7     Lost at St. Joseph's (L. I.) 78-65
The Privateers played their 1st game in over a month and Hoops Fan has quietly sat by and watched the Winless Pool shrink to 3 players. The Privateers will host Vaughn College on Wednesday night (unless it magically gets cancelled like some of their other games were) and this is a game that could spell doom for Hoops Fan. Trying to find out anything about Vaughn's basketball team is almost impossible as the school doesn't really have much of an athletic website. You can get their schedule, with no results and you can get a roster but no stats. They play in the Hudson Valley Athletic Conference with teams like Albany Pharmacy, Sarah Lawrence, Culinary Institute...well you get the picture. They have a 4-6 record against some less than stellar competition. For comparison's sake I did see that they were crushed at CCNY 75-39. SUNY-Maritme lost at CCNY 65-36. Sounds like this one could be a real barnburner.

Was there a reason cited for the night off?

No, but on the SLIAC pages I speculate that it may have been a Coach's 'mercy' decision, as the leading Spalding Women's player also did not appear in the ladies box score...   poor Prin dressed only 6 players in the men's game and 6 in the women's game..

I credit Principia for sticking with it.  When faced with similar numbers Piedmont (Ga) cancelled their season after starting 0-7.

That would be brutal.  I believe Principia would grab the win.

I think Piedmont was going to have less than six based on the issues they were having.

Interesting point regarding Principia ladies... they get a number of their student athletes from the Principia school in St Louis... just down the river from Principia College in Elsah Illinois... at least thru Mid December, the Principia School's women's team had been rated in the top 10 small schools Girls hoops rankings in the St Louis area, though they have dropped out of the rankings with an 8-5 record.. here's hoping that some of those young ladies consider attending Principia college in the future....
