I'm going to see F&M play at winless Washington College here in a couple hours.  F&M has been struggling of late, so I'm hoping to bring some good will to Chestertown today.

Let's go home team!

If you are going to come off the winless list, you might as well hang a loss on a Top 25 team while you are doing it!

If F&M is a Top 25 team, this is a terrible year for d3 basketball.  I won't even consider voting for them in the Poster's Poll after seeing them play.  They've got some good young talent, but they're night and day from the team I watched trash Amherst last year.

The game was awesome.  It doesn't appear that school is back in session just yet at Washington College, but there was 100-150 people there.  The gym was pretty full and certainly loud by the end.  The Shoremen had to endure a tough 7 seconds of defense at the end (not even allowing F&M to get the last shot off) before celebrating like they won the national title, quickly shaking hands, then sprinting out the front door of the building to ring the giant bell on campus.  It was a pretty cool sight.

This team doesn't deserve to be on the winless list; I'm glad they got off.  The talent was less than F&M, but not drastically.  I'd chalk the record up to abhorrent coaching.  I've never seen a worse coached college team.  I thought, with a 1 point lead and 90 seconds to play, that Glenn Robinson was going to be the difference for his team, but the WC guys overcame their obstacles and pulled it out.

Fun afternoon.

Only action today:

In the Undefeated Pool

#4 Rochester 14-0 won vs #12 Washington University 93-81

sac

Not much chance Franciscan pulls the upset Wednedsday and beat league leader Mt. Aloysius.

off-track a little but Mt. A was picked 6th in the AMCC and is currently leading the pack.

The Barons have now lost 40 games in a row. It's officially the longest current winless streak in Men's D3 hoops. Principia is close behind with 37 straight losses. The two schools should have scheduled each other so one of them could have gotten off the schneid. Then we would have a definitive winner in the Winless Survivor Pool between hopefan and sac. Their battle to survive may not end this year. We'll have to do a carry over into next season or declare it a tie. I'd vote for the carryover   The tie thing is like   :-*ing your sister. ;D

Now, there's still the return matchups with St. Louis Pharmacy and Blackburn for Principia, and the home games with Pitt-Greensburg and D'Youville for Franciscan. All is not lost.

Franciscan lost by only 3 AT D'Youville.  Next week they meet AT Franciscan.  Barring a change of heart, Pickems posters should think that it pretty likely to appear!

Practically speaking, I'm shocked if Prin doesn't beat either St Louis Pharma or Lincoln Christian, and as mentioned, the Blackburn game could also be close... I just have to root that PSU Altoona takes care of business vs Franciscan before Prin plays those 3....

This contest could get interesting if Prin loses to Pharma and Fran loses to Altoona.... that would likely generate both remaining winless to Jan 26, when Fran plays DYouville and Prin plays Lincoln CHristian... technically if they were both to win, Prin and I would enjoy 1 hour of Winless championship, as Prin tips off an hour later than Franciscan on the 26th.. but in the interest of fairness, I think I'd be willing to share the crown ;D ;D ;D ;D
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!
