Interesting point with our winless contest... Principia will catch up to Franciscan's 45 losses in a row when they lose to Spalding tonight (I'll go on record that you can wager your life savings on that loss)... and as I wrote before, both have real opportunities to end their streaks on Saturday... Quite frankly, I think they'll both do it....

hopefan should be quite well off now as he doubled his life's saving wagering that Principia would lose last night and lose they did. (You did follow your own advice didn't you hopefan?) It was the only game on tap involving teams from this board.

Principia 0-17     Lost vs Spalding 106-64

NO... life savings went to Prin plus 40.... HELP!!!!!

Want to see the line on someone who had a tough game, check out poor Matt Jones in this game with Spalding...  Coming off a 22 point game against Pharma, he runs into Spalding who just had their first league loss and probably has something to prove... They do it by beating Prin 106-64 and Matt, well, he evidently bore the brunt of it..

14 minutes played, 0 for 1 from the field, 1 rebound, 1 assist, 3 fouls, 10 turnovers...   ouch

Get a win on Saturday, Matt!!!!

Results for Saturday Jan. 26th

In Undefeated Pool action

#3 Middlebury  16-0        Lost at Williams 64-63

Middlebury blows a 63-56 lead with 4:21 left by failing to score another point the rest of the way. Williams comes back and wins on a layup with 31 seconds left to take a 64-63 lead. Middlebury was up 63-62 after Williams made 2 free throws but the Panthers turned it over and gave the Ephs the chance they needed. Middlebury had another chance but missed a jumper, got the offensive rebound and missed a 3 point attempt. Williams corralled the rebound and that was game.
My chance to become not only the winner of the Survivor Pool but to be the last undefeated team inn the country in back to back seasons falls just a little short. It's been a good two year run though. So an unclaimed team, either Rochester or WPI will win the Undefeated Pool.

In Winless Pool action:

Principia 0-18                    Lost  at non D3 Lincoln Christian 77-58

Franciscan 0-20                Lost vs D'Youville 68-57

Southern Vermont 0-18      Lost vs Daniel Webster 67-52

Houghton  0-18                Lost at St. John Fisher 71-49

Not looking good for the Barons.

Williams has an impact on this thread with a win over Midd.  Let's hope that's the last we see of them here for awhile because they play S. Vermont on Tuesday - don't want to give them their first win.

Williams is ranked #13 in Massey. Southern Vermont is #409.

The PREDICTED score is 97-52.

Down goes Prin    per the Principia site, Prin loses to Lincoln Christian, 58-77..
next up for Prin, at 1-18 Blackburn... and you know who Blackburn's one win was against....

Wanted to check in with our adopted ladies at Medgar Evers. They are 0-19, but have at least cleared 30 points on a couple of occasions recently. It also looks like they added a couple of players after the break.

Mr. Ypsi

I'm gonna predict that WPI wins the overall undefeated race.  They finish the season with games AT MIT, Springfield, and Clark (they might well lose one of those), but this week play at Babson (whom they beat by 33 at home), then host the pathetic duo of Coast Guard and Wheaton.  Meanwhile, Rochester should win at NYU, but I think their undefeated streak ends AT Brandeis.

At the other end of the food chain, I think Franciscan is now a veritable lock to finish winless; if Principia can somehow avoid beating Blackburn, the contest should end in a tie. 8-)  Among non-selected teams, Southern Vermont may have to evade a win at home against Wheelock, but otherwise should have an easy time staying winless (the game against Williams may set records!)  Houghton also looks pretty safe to avoid victory.  I'll predict four season-long winless teams.

Might be fun next year to do something of a combo nature... women's AND men's.... as that will end quickly (would we have a winner by Christmas?), it might also be fun to follow top 10 and bottom 10 winning %.  In the SLIAC, a fan of men's hoops like myself can easily get caught up with the women's teams to, as all conference games are womens - mens doubleheaders....

Does anyone have the time to see who would have been the undefeated and winless combo champ this year?
