Well, I'm sure Wheelock is a fine school (let's be careful and not throw the entire institution into the abyss). Also, they've won three, by hook, crook, or lucky scheduling, so bad hoops is probably better.

They were a women's only school until just recently, so it's more than understandable that their men's sports programs are having trouble.  I'm sure they'll get there eventually.

Actually, having a 8:1 ratio of F:M ought to be quite an appealing recruiting pitch for hormonal 18-year-olds!

Final:  Southern Vermont 78, Wheelock 68.  Break up the Mountaineers! ;D

Wheelock had beaten So. Vermont earlier this year 64-55.

Did a little review of point spreads for our winless 3, and the way I look at it Prin is 'the most winless'... which I could remember my stats courses to be formal, but NO

Prin has lost 3 games by 3 or less, and 4 by less than 10,  but 11 of their 20 losses have been by 20 or more, 8 by 30 or more, 6 by 40 or more

Franciscan has lost 1 game by 3 or less, and 4 by less than 10,  with 7 of their 20 losses having been by 20 or more, 2 by 30 or more, 1 by 40 or more

Houghton has lost 1 games by 3 or less, BUT 7 by less than 10,  with 9 of their 20 losses having been by 20 or more, only 2 by 30 or more, and none by 40 or more

The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Just got confirmation that Pat is going to Medgar Evers on Monday on the last day of his New England tour to cover the winless ladies!!!!

Ok, we need a 'winless and others' classic to try to get these teams a win.

Eight teams - Alaskan Shootout Style

Fransican, Principia, Houghton, Southern Vermont, Cairn, Maine Maritime, Blackburn and Green Mountain.

Let's do it!

Winners go home, losers play again down to a grand loser
Then we will have to place the tournament in some place they would not like to stay, perhaps Cleveland?

Mr. Ypsi

Rochester fell from the unbeaten ranks one game earlier than I had predicted, losing to NYU by FOURTEEN.  NYU was on a 4-game losing streak.

Results of 2-1 and 2-2

In Undefeated Pool action:

#1 Rochester  18-0                Lost at NYU 65-51 on 2-1

WPI wins the Undefeated Pool as the last unbeaten team in D3. Who'da thunk it at the beginning of the year. Certainly none of the players in the Survivor Pool as WPI went unclaimed. I'm happy about that. ;D

#4 WPI  21-0                        Won vs Coast Guard 89-53 on 2-2

In Winless Pool action:

Houghton  0-20                                 Lost at Alfred 89-67 on 2-1
Houghton  0-21                                 Lost vs Ithaca 74-65 on 2-2

Principia 0-20                                   Lost vs Fontbonne 78-55 on 2-2

Franciscan 0-20                                Lost at Penn State-Behrend 88-36 on 2-2  They lost by 16 points more than they scored!

WPI has only two games left with teams with realistic chances of beating them : MIT and Springfield.

WPI closes out the season playing the current #2-#4 teams in the NEWMAC on the road. They've already beat each of those teams at home this year (MIT and Springfield were both close games, Clark was a bit more comfortable). Will be interesting to see how they fare on the road, as their conference schedule was front loaded with home games. They really don't have any big road win this season, with their current best wins away from Worcester being at St. Joe's (Maine) and at Salem State (who has nose dived lately after starting the season pretty strong). Their two biggest (regular-season) road games are definitely still to come.

Results from Tuesday night:

In Winless Pool action:

Principia 0-20     Postponed at Webster on 2-5 Next at MacMurray on 2-9 The game was postponed because Principia did not have enough players. The game will be rescheduled.

hopefan has found a new way to try and win the Winless Pool. He must have shanghaied a few of the Prin players.

Houghton  0-22                                 Lost vs St. John Fisher 75-62 on 2-5 Next vs Alfred on 2-9... If they don't win this one they won't win their next one against Ithaca, which is their last one.

Our fearless leader Mr. Coleman did attend the Medgar Evers ladies game the other night. And while they still are, in Pat's words, "gettin their doors blown off" and lost 88-44 to John Jay they did manage to score their 2nd highest point total of the year.
I guess they weren't about to embarass themselves by scoring 5, 6, 7, 9, or 10 with the D3hoops Guru in the house and blogging about them.

I just went over to Elsah and coughed a couple of times...   half their team then came down with the same flu bug that's been ripping me up!!!!   ::) ::)   Actually i hope they don't have what I have... their season would be in danger!

Actually, they knew of your intentions as you approached.  They had their immunity up when you coughed and the "Science" will keep them healthy, this time.
