I would be curious why no one else picked Amherst in the undefeated pool.  I was the very last person to make a pick and was shocked to find the Lord Jeffs still on the table.  As a defending national champion, and pre-season number one to start this year, I would have though someone would have taken a chance on them.  As it is, Amherst is one of three teams still alive in the undefeated pool, and i'm feeling a bit sheepish wondering whether I'm really so smart.

Inquiring minds want to know!   :o

Off the top of my head, I'd say NESCAC = tough schedule (Williams, Middlebury), that's why I stayed away late in the picking and went with Mary Hardin and I'm already out...also there were lots of comparisons to IWU in writings here, trending towards IWU being much better, concentrating on Amherst graduation losses....  it probably stuck in people's minds.....

Amherst lost a lot, have a tough schedule and are almost assuredly overrated.

NESCAC schedule.  I had them and Morrisville as the top 2 contenders.  I went with Morrisville because outside of a select few games (Geneseo, a potential match with NYU) and the rest of the schedule was a piece of cake.  Obviously I picked wrong as Morrisville lost both those games.

In an early candidate for shocker of the year, Principia downs previously 5-1 Millikin, 83-74. :o

Green Mountain 102, Johnson St 99.   Johnson St missed a 3 to tie, ball bounced out to the 3 pt line, J St threw in a 3 but it was just after the buzzer.

On the other side of things Rochester hands Hobart their first loss, 85-75.

That's an interesting match-up in and of itself... Mike Neer coached at Rochester for about 750 years.

And his Hobart boys got the best of Rochester last season, as well, I think.

I was wondering about that. I knew he'd been at Hobart for a few years.... didn't know if this was the first match up or not.

They've played once, maybe twice each year.  I'm pretty sure Hobart's only won one.
