Mr. Ypsi

Still following football much more than basketball, but know that John Gleich has gone out on the first day of basketball season.
IWU went down on day one. :(

(Oh, well, they can still be 24-1! ;))

Don't look now, but UNE almost beat Middlebury tonight as well.  Something's going on in Biddeford.

I was never complaining about your pick, I was trying to help you by telling you that the team... AT THE TIME THAT YOU CHOSE THEM... was not eligible as a D3 team. I didn't want you to choose a team that was ineligible for the contest.  The NCAA sent the Plattsburgh State and Buffalo State coaches a letter, which I have seen, informing them that Pine Manor was a club team and that the game wouldn't count in their team's standings. So they cancelled the games against them. Several weeks later Pine Manor completed the necessary paperwork to be compliant with the NCAA and they were granted D3 status. So as I stated earlier, they were...they weren't...they are.  They are also no longer winless. ;D

Wow. Monmouth picked 7th in the weak MWC. Guess I bought into everyone's talk on Webster. Your plan worked.

;D ;D  I apologized to the world over in the SLIAC room.... unfortunately both big men (and basically the ONLY big men) for Webster out with injury...still, I was very disappointed....  hoping a +1 eases the pain...

Pine Manor picked up its second win last night, perhaps setting a record for speed in which a win-less candidate reaches 2 wins. :-X

As hopefan said, two of Webster's top three players were out with injury, while the other one was just back after having missed several weeks of practice due to injury. Also, I think that the MWC coaches are wrong about Monmouth. The Scots brought back their entire starting five from last year, and ten lettermen in all.

Probably doesn't make you feel any better about getting knocked out of the winner's bracket, but at least you can rest assured that there was no conspiracy afoot. ;)

Ten lettermen from a 6-17 team...could be good, or....maybe not so good if they're a little talent bereft.

Mr. Ypsi

I think I set a personal record for speed in getting knocked out of both contests!  At least I had plenty of company (including both of the UWSP 'twins'). ;D

Of the twelve Scots who played against Webster, nine were returnees and three were freshmen. The minutes were pretty evenly distributed -- only one Scot played more than 26 minutes -- so Todd Skrivseth obviously has faith in his returnees.

I think sometimes when you have a lot of returnees from a less-than-stellar team, the team will remain less-than-stellar.
