Oh geez, I just assumed Brandeis wasn't winless.    :-[

I know nowhere else to put this.

So, I'm looking through the scores tonight and I see Pine Manor, a school with 400 students in Boston, traditionally pretty bad at basketball, won a game by 91 points tonight, 118-27 over Landmark College.  Landmark, clearly not a d3 school.  So I'm curious and I google Landmark College.  What comes up?  "Landmark College of Putney, Vermont, is the only institution of higher learning in the United States dedicated entirely to students with dyslexia."

Obviously there are a lot of stereotypes at play here, which could be mined for humor.  I'll just leave it there.

Everyone deserves to play basketball.

I think that score is wrong.

Yep, looks right to me.

Undefeated contest now down between Gregory Sager who has Amherst, Hoops Fan with Eastern Nazarene and 7Express with Western Connecticut.

Amherst has a tough game with Babson on December 11, though that game is at home, aside from that game they have a tough road contest @ Eastern Connecticut on January 6, the NESCAC game that counts @ Williams on January 11, home vs. the Ephs in the non NESCAC game January 21, @ Rhode Island College February 3, and @ Middlebury on February 15 look like challenging results as well.  Massey has Amherst favored in all of their remaining games except the game @ Eastern.

Eastern Naz plays nothing but CCC games the remainder of the season which bodes well for the Lions.  Tough remaining games for them: Endicott (home December 9, road January 24), Salve Regina (road January 11, home February 15), last years conference champion Gordon (road January 17, home February 21) and last year's regular season champion Nichols (home January 20, road February 27).  Road games @ Roger Williams (January 6), Curry (January 28), and Wentworth (February 7) could be difficult as well.  Massey has Eastern Nazarene favored all the way until the road game @ Nichols February 17.

Western Connecticut still has a game @ Albertus Magnus on December 15, and 2 games each in LEC against Rhode island (road January 20 and home February 10) and Eastern (road January 27, home February 17), and all road games in the LEC will be tough this year.  Southern Maine and Plymouth State look like the two worst teams in the conference, but those two schools are the furthest trip, and Western has lost to both at least once within the last 3 seasons.  Massey doesn't like the Colonials as much as the other 2 as the Colonials are actually projected underdogs in 7 of their final 21 games.

Assuming a miracle doesn't happen, the unbeaten champ will come down to Gregory Sager & Amherst vs. Hoops Fan and Eastern Naz.  My bet's on Amherst staying unbeaten longer than Eastern Naz.

Ryan Scott (Hoops Fan)

When I looked at teams to start the year, the ones I wanted to pick all had really tough games January 11th (like Amherst-Williams).  I figured whoever I picked would be out then, at the latest.  I went for the gamble.

Curry should be no problem.  Endicott has been playing well, but ENC's pulled out a couple games they shouldn't've necessarily won already this year, so I'm optimistic.  Then they don't play again until January.

Now what I didn't take into account is the likelihood Amherst is head and shoulders above everyone else.  Their schedule thus far has been among the weakest in the country, but I don't know that they're going to face too much trouble once it picks up.  (Just FYI, while ENC has played the 360th toughest schedule, according to Massey, Amherst comes in at 395.)

I have no delusions about ENC's overall ability this year (although next year might be a different story), but I thought the schedule was easy enough and I can't say how happy I am to be proven right thus far.  My ENC shirts are no longer ironic jokes when I wear them to d3 games.  (Shout out to Coach Jim Aller for turning the program around!)

7express's Undefeated Pool pick, Western Connecticut, is the next team that must face the Pine Manor juggernaut on Monday Dec. 8th. It could be all over for the Colonials after Monday. ;D

FCGrizzlies,
If you're keeping track of all the winless and undefeated teams as you did in that long post a few day ago, you should draw a line through Fredonia State in the SUNYAC conference. They actually won a game back on November 16th when they beat non-D3, Pitt-Titusville, 75-50. I sent an email to the guru informing him of that win but it still isn't posted on Fredonia's D3 page. Their website shows the win however. Here's the link:    http://www.fredoniabluedevils.com/schedule.aspx?path=mbball

I'm wondering if the win over UP-Titusville should count.. their entire schedule is against community colleges with exception of the appearance in the Allegheny Tourney... Maybe that's why Pat hasn't included the score..?? Titusville does grant two BA degrees through an association with Pitt-Bradford, but is primarily a 2 year school....  Reminds me of SUNY Delhi where my brother in law teaches... would a win vs Delhi by a four year school count?
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

FCGrizzliesGrad

I wasn't officially keeping track of the results. I don't know who is running things but I just glanced through every conference's standings to find the teams with a 0 in their record. My lists didn't include anyone who didn't qualify for those lists but were still on the 'Unbeaten/Winless vs D3' lists.

I believe the ruling would be Fredonia St would drop off the winless list (and out of the competition) and move to the 'Winless vs D3' list

Only 8 of those unbeatens made the top 25, the pollsters seem suspicious of many of them.
