I figured it wouldn't be long before Trinity (TX) came off the list; they have recently given serious scares to some very good teams, including undefeated and #1 WashU!  They had to have been the best 0-9 team in the country - and maybe for many years past!

Gregory Sager

Let's not get carried away, Chuck. Yes, the Tigers have played a brutal schedule, and, yes, they've put scares into some good teams. But they were winless for a reason. Their first win of the season came on their own floor Saturday evening against a SUNYIT team that entered the contest with a 2-7 record and a #377 Massey rating -- with the two SUNYIT wins coming at the expense of hapless Wells (#409 Massey, out of 417 D3 teams) and the oh-so-mighty Future Forest Rangers of SUNY ESF (a USCAA Div. 2) entry. And yet Trinity (TX) only beat SUNYIT by four; the game was tied going into the final minute.

I watched Trinity (TX) play Wheaton the other day. The Tigers certainly aren't terrible, that's for sure ... but they're not all that good, either. I'm more inclined to chalk up their terrific 48 hours against Emory and Wash U two weekends ago as "just one of those things."

Of course, we had the great 'mediocre' or not debate in the past. Choose your adjectives wisely!

I certainly didn't mean to imply that Trinity was a good (or even 'average') team; just far from what one thinks of when '0-9' is uttered.  (And, is it possible that beating SUNYIT by only 4 is 'just one of those things'?!) ;)

Sure, because it balances out the close losses to the two UAA powers two weeks ago.

My assessment of the Tigers is based more upon the eyeball test against Wheaton than anything else, given that I've seen the Sonic Atmospheric Disturbance play several times now and I have a feel for where WC fits in this year's D3 universe.

Well, I for one feel quite secure in using the adjective "hapless" to describe Wells. The Express have no hap whatsoever. ;)

All this talk about 1-win Trinity is exhilarating, LOL.

I still think the Tigers have a few more wins coming in conference play.  Now that they have a win (albeit against a very weak opponent), they might get enough confidence to finish games.  Have to shoot much better from the free-throw line and get there more often...it seems that is the common denominator underlying their close losses.

There are only 2 teams in the SCAC with winning records before conference play begins.  Can Trinity get wins vs. the other 5 struggling teams in that conference?  We shall see.

In other winless news. The CSAC has three teams with 0 wins. Baptist Bible, Cairn and the surprising Keystone. There will be two teams that will be guaranteed to get a win before the season is out. BBC plays @ Keystone on 1/14 and then @ Cairn on 1/21. Keystone is @ Cairn on 1/7. So somebody should win, unless of course they allow ties or some serious snow storms come into play!  ;D

Hilbert plays Potsdam on 1/3, a game rescheduled from the November Blizzard in Buffalo.

The following night, they face off against either John Carroll or Nazareth.
