I went to the Bryn Athyn/Wilson game last night for a piece I'm doing on new basketball programs. These two are extremely new since Wilson didn't have men's athletics before this year and Bryn Athyn had very few athletic teams until last year.

Watching the game from behind the benches, I was reminded that, regardless of records, the kids on these teams are faster, stronger, better athletes than I ever was. Maybe not a high bar but it good reminder for my ego. :)

Bryn Athyn also has a pretty fully formed athletic department despite its youth. The Field House is nice, the men's basketball team's roster is full and the College appears to have made a substantial investment to get athletic teams up and running. The school's website is well done, they have video streaming and had a small but engaged crowd, even though I assume the school is on break.

I'll have a fuller report early next week, but there's hope for Bryn Athyn, even if the record shows otherwise for now.

Bryn Athyn and Wilson aren't on this list anymore, but they got more attention here than anywhere else. So here's the link to our story on their program building efforts.

We somehow let the second-chance undefeated pool go by the wayside.  There were about 8 picks or so, the only ones that matter still are:

ronk - WashU
7 - Marietta
Gleich - F&M

WOW!  So I won the regular season one and I'm one of 2 still alive for the "second-chance" one??

Cairn drops from the winless list with an upset of Immaculata 57-54. Now I never saw that coming.  :o

I went through the conference pages and looked at any team that was winless or unbeaten in conference to see if anyone qualified for these lists. I tried my best to sort out results with provisional teams but as hard as it is to believe I'm not infallible :o. Let me know if there's anything I missed.
The following three teams have no wins over full D3 members but do have wins over exploratory members.
Penn St-Berks has 2 wins, Bryn Athyn and Penn College
Valley Forge's only D3 win is Bryn Athyn
Wilson has 3 wins, 1 non D3, Bryn Athyn, and Penn College

Unbeaten vs D3 (0 teams)

Winless vs D3 (5** teams)
Fredonia St (1-8) @ Geneseo St 1/16 (win: Pitt-Titusville)
Maine Maritime (1-11) @ New England College 1/16 (win: Maine-Augusta)

Washington & Jefferson (1-14) @ Bethany 1/17 (win: Penn St-DuBois)

Mr. Ypsi

Don't look for Crown to come off the winless list any time soon - just before the half, they trial 1-10 Martin Luther by 20!  (I've watched most of the first half - it is quite understandable why these teams were a combined 1-22 coming into the game! :P  It will be quite a shock to the system to switch to Emory @ WashU at the half!)

Yep, having watched quite a bit of both games, either WashU or Emory would beat Martin Luther by 40+, and would beat Crown by any score the winning coach found decent. :o

So F&M loses by 1 to McDaniel so I won the second chance undefeated pool again  8-). Chapman & Marietta the last 2 unbeaten left.
