Greek Tragedy

I'm already impressed I've made it this far since I took less than 5 minutes to make both picks...and I usually don't even select a winless team because I'm too lazy to look! Trust me, I didn't even look at either team's schedule.

Anyway, another nervous night of watching live stats with my Stars taking on the Prairie Fire. They pulled out a loss against previously winless Edgewood,  so a guy can hope!

Knox gave Illinois Tech it's first win the other night

As odd as it may sound, I wouldn't be at all surprised if IIT ends the season 8-17 or even 9-16, even though the Scarlet Hawks are currently a mere 1-8. They are not devoid of talent, and they're a much better team now than they were at the start of the season. Plus, their schedule lightens up for them a bit from here on out.

I'm rooting hard for my friend Mark White to get off of the schneid. Dominican's not devoid of talent, either, and the Stars have come close a few times. They lost by two to Lawrence (a tied game going into the final minute), and lost by six to both Rockford (a three-point deficit going into the final minute) and to Edgewood (again, a three-point deficit going into the final minute). The stars just have to align properly for Mark's boys, so to speak. ;)

Yeah. Tech has 3 solid players I've been keeping track of for my one-and-done fantasy league. Mosley Jr, Digiorgio and Rarick have all put up fantasy-worthy numbers.

Dominican's Mayberry has been used by at least one team this year.

Knox gave Illinois Tech it's first win the other night - Dominican is up today.  We could be losing another name from the list.

Undefeated Austin also plays tonight, but against a non d3 opponent, so they're on one list or another come tomorrow.

Paul Quinn College (Dallas, Tx) who doesn't appear to be very good at basketball.  They are NAIA I  and 1-12 on the year, about to be 1-13.  They have 6 and possibly 7 players on the roster.  http://www.dakstats.com/WebSync/Pages/Team/TeamSchedule.aspx?association=10&sg=MBB&sea=NAIMBB_2015&team=426

I bet it was a great one-on-one duel when Paul Quinn beat Philander Smith.

Looks like they've had 13 players take the court at one time or another. Yet, the roster lists just seven, including SIR Patrick Reynolds. As opposed to Sir Patrick Spens.

I've always thought that it was one of the great tragedies of college athletics that Philander Smith College chose not to call its sports teams the Philanderers.

It took me a couple of years to correctly separate 'goalmascots' ('go alma scots') - I long wondered what the heck 'goal mascots' was supposed to mean.  Now i know - it's the mascot of the Philanderers! :D

Oddly one of the first hits from a google search for 'Philanderer mascot' is an article about the Amherst student protests over the Lord Jeff mascot.
