HOLD THE PRESSES!!

Millikin just beat previously 4-3 RHIT by 5 (71-66)!!  AT Rose-Hulman!!

So if W&J is that bad, maybe Millikin would be the favorite. ;)  But it would be a HUGE upset if Millikin won a conference game this year - MAYBE Elmhurst when they get them in Decatur.

Washington and Jefferson is the worst team in D3 this year.  They play in a terrible conference, so they might actually win some games, but even if Millikin spotted them 10 points, I'd still pick Millikin to win.

There's Rivier...and Pitt-Greensburg, and Franciscan.

Have you watched Millikin this year?  Even as low as NPU fell for awhile, Millikin is quite conceivably the worst team in CCIW history.

Easy there, Chuck. As bad as NPU got during the Keith Peterson era, the Vikings were never as bad as Millikin was during the last year of the Marc Smith era and the first year of the Matt Nadelhoffer era. Not even close, in fact. That two-year span represented the most wretched outfit in CCIW history -- although old-timers have told me that some of the late-70s North Central teams were pretty awful, too.

This year's MU team has more talent than those 2010-11 and 2011-12 Big Blue teams had. It's just much younger. Nadelhoffer's playing a rotation that's mostly freshmen.

Undefeateds drop from 9 to 8, as Cal Lutheran loses to Puget Sound 80-75

Winless drops from 19 to 17 as Millikin beats Rose Hulman 71-66. and Marian beats Finlandia 77-63

Winless vs D3 only drops from 5 to 4 as Mount St. Vincent beats Elmira 64-52

Undefeated vs only D3 stays at 1

With the results of 12/20/16:

Undefeateds stay at 8

Winless stay at 17

Winless vs D3 only drops from 4 to 3.... Whittier drops off as they beat UC-Santa Cruz in OT, 87-81

Undefeated  vs D3 only stays at 1

and yes our survivor list  in the winless contest remains unchanged:

Franciscan     Magicman
Curry      Sac
Washington and Jefferson   Greek Tragedy

Scratch another unbeaten off the list, as unbeaten UWW give Ripon their first loss, 109-96.  Whitewater is for real, but so is Ripon, who may give St. Norbert a run for the title in the MWC.  Ripon led by 8 at the break, before UWW opened it up in the second.

Winless

Curry
12-30   Maine-Presque Isle @ Maine Maritime
12-31  @ Maine Maritime
1-3  Salve Regina
1-5  @ Nichols
1-7  @  Eastern Nazarenne

Washington and Jefferson
12-29  @ Otterbein
12-30  Hiram @ Otterbein
1-3  @ Grove City
1-5  Thiel
1-7  @ Chatham

Franciscan
1-4  @ Pitt-Greensburg
1-7  @ D'Youville

Looks like Curry has a couple chances at wins with Presque Isle and Maine Maritime.  I highlighted the Franciscan Pitt-Greensburg game because Greensburg is two losses after Christmas from being 0-11 making this game an 0-11 vs 0-11 match-up.

I'd still like to know what the heck happened to W&J? 13-13 two seasons ago and now????

Coaching change this year, previous coach resigned pretty much immediately after last season ended.  This years roster has 11 Fr. and So. on a roster of 13.  From last years team they returned one player who averaged 10+ min per game and only 3 that registered any minutes total.  Essentially they have 10 first year players and 2 other guys who played very little last year.

That was a quote about Wash&Jeff from last January.  This year's Presidents have 10 Freshmen and appear to have retained only 6 regulars from last years team and two of them aren't really playing much.  Looks like they're starting 3 Freshmen.

AHHHHH but Sac, we don't want to create any misconceptions about our old favorite, UMPI...... UMPI enters the game with Curry riding a "historical" 4 game win streak, including wins over Coast Guard and Colby.... the old wood choppers have made some positive strides since being a regular winless contender for several years not too long ago!! :o

Yes hopefan, UMPI is fast becoming a juggernaut. They should beat Curry but Maine Maritime may be their chance at a win.

I think Rust may be the new UMPI

Well, in some ways...but they do have a win (albeit against winless MacMurray) and they play a far more legit D3 schedule than UMPI used to play.... and they are nowhere near so geographically isolated.... yet there is almost something mystical about that program... just like UMPI was so .. what... mystical, unknown, several years ago.

Did we ever find out the non D-3 schedule for Rust. There are a lot of Unity type schools in the south (not in hippie-ness, but in shambolic basketball talent).

Well, I gave up.... D3 games are probably all there, but good luck finding every game vs non D3 opponents...

Doing research for something else I came up with the teams with the fewest wins in the last 10 years

Northland    55
Crown         54
Bard            50
Elmira          49
Macalaster  40
Principia      39
Earlham      36
Knox           32
Cal Tech      30

Probably a different looking list if we pulled out non D3 wins.  I have several schools who have yet to complete 10 years in D3 that might make this list once they do.  Franciscan for instance who have 28 wins after 8 years.
