I think it kind of depends if the name CAN be pronounced...

UNLV="Un-Luv" sort of works, but I don't know that someone would want to attend such a hateful place... UIC="oo-IC?"  Sound like what a college student discovering a chicken salad left in their dorm freezer over Christmas break.  And it was my ROOMMATE, not me!    :(  :o  ???

I've developed some of that same attitude, as one of my (many) pet peeves about Wheaton is the fact that the North Park banner hanging in King Arena (CCIW schools all have the banners of the league's eight members hanging in their gyms) does not have the proper colors. Wheaton's NPU banner is navy blue and gold, like Augie's, rather than the proper royal blue and gold. I was just looking at it again on Saturday night, and it galled me enough to bring it to the attention of some of the North Park alumni with whom I was sitting.

Anal-retentiveness must be contagious.  :D

Actually Greg, the NPU banner used to be royal blue, till I stole it. Schools with the colors orange and blue like to steal banners.

if anal retentiveness is contagious, it is rather unfortunate that I've been unable to spread my case to those around me.  :D

While we're on school abbreviations... guys, it's not Rochester! That's not how you say it! It's U of R! (I'm sure Greg can back me up on this one.) Though I can't imagine why I of all people would be concerned about whether or not Rochester is offended by something.  :D

Doesn't Wheaton's student pledge cover the eighth commandment, April? If not, then that is a truly lamentable loophole.  ;)

I'm sorry I missed that thrilling conversation yesterday evening.

Anyway, to update on the survivors:  Still no score from Presque Isle for Sunday's game.  Neither school has updated their results page since before they left for Christmas.

Also, Thiel lost to Waynesburg last night to stay alive as well.

I did my power rating compendium, finally, and here's the bottom 10 for all you fans of the unloved.

394. Principia
393. Daniel Webster
392. Maine - Presque Isle
391. Maranatha Baptist
390. D'Youville
389. Albertus VO5 Mangus
388. Centenary (NJ)
387. Anna Maria
386. Eastern Nazarene
385. Bard

Where are the other winless?

384. Northland
383. Cal Tech (they have a good SOS, comparitively, and Massey likes them a little)
373. Oberlin
367. Goucher
Wabash Always Fights!

hoops, where do our winless vs d3 only stand - I'd imagine several of them would be the rest of your 380's or 370's
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Uh, that's me, not hoops. Let me check.

Ferrum (4-11) - 322
Fontbonne (3-10) - 352
Immaculata (1-12) - 376
Maranatha Baptist (1-13) - 391
Rutgers-Camden (1-13) - 375
Thiel (2-12) - 382
Maine-Presque Isle (1-12)*- 292

I also noticed that Green Mountain isn't listed. Are they in their first transitional year?

Cal Tech is pretty good this year.  I think they could beat up on a dozen or so teams in d3, unfortunately not anyone of their schedule.  They will still have to catch someone sleeping to get a win.

I'm not sure Green Mountain was even listed on d3hoops.com until around Christmas time; they just came out of nowhere.

Massey and Wolfe both have them at D-2. At any rate, they'd be near the bottom just eyeballing it.

sorry Smed  -  you and hoops provide so much, i got mixed up.   Green Mountain was listed in the NCAA Basketball papers as a D2.  Early on I was amazed that a D2 school was getting crushed by weak D3 schools.  I believe it was Ralph who first said that they were on a list to become D3.

Green Mountain  -  I was an RPI frat guy, and on occasion, one of boys would show up with a weekender from Green Mountain  -  they were pretty free thinkin' young ladies back in the late 60's......

I see that five of the bottom ten are from the Northeast Region. I guess you can call the Northeast the anti-Great Lakes.

...which will prompt another discussion about how the Conference-QOWI should be considered as the NESCAC is loading up on cupcake 14-15 point QOWI wins in the Northeast Region. >:( ::) :-\

And you know, some of the elite D-1 snobs who look down on D-3 can just point to some of those D-3 teams in their neighborhood (and teams like John Jay, Hunter, CCNY, etc. in NYC). Sigh.

Ralph, the NCAA really needs to make SOS a consideration. They know how to do it, the RPI that the D-1 tourney uses is a pretty decent tool, especially since it rewards teams for winning on the road and penalizes teams for loading up on cupcakes at home.

Didn't Fawn Leibowitz go to Green Mountain??  ;D

Does anyone besides me think that any rankings that have Maine - Presque Isle above MORE THAN 100 teams is automatically suspect! ;D

[NEVER MIND, I see that the posting of the 'winless against d3' was just a typo - they are actually 392 on the original bottom ten!]

It's actually really an incredible document.... though there's nothing specific about theft  ;D

...and don't you dare start lecturing me about the specific duties of a christian... I was the one who went to Wheaton instead of North Park.  :P :D :D :D
