Whittier 86, Caltech 84 (1OT)  :'(

I just read the press release. Wow. The Beavers lost on a buzzer-beating jumper from the top of the key. They had to play the last seven minutes of the game with their two best players on the bench after having fouled out.

There is no crying in basketball, but if there was ever a reason to shed a tear over a valiant defeat, it belongs to Caltech.

wow what a shame   -  Caltech, you can't imagine the admiration / love that's out there for you from a select few of us across the country.
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

I have to believe that there are actually ten or twelve teams this year worse than Caltech.  If they played in New England, I think they'd have five or six wins.  It's a shame they are still on our list.

I'm taking the bar exam in Pasadena this week, and almost talked myself into going over tho Caltech last night to cheer on the Beavs.  At the last minute I decided that it was more important to get a good night's sleep.  In hindsight, having seen the Caltech/Whittier score and the questions on this morning's portion of the exam, I know I made the wrong choice.  :-\

The good news for Caltech is that their final game is against reeling Occidental, who they took to the wire before the Oxy tailspin began.  One last chance for a SCIAC win... 8)

DC, I'm blaming you for the Caltech loss.  I can't pin the other 300 or so on you, but this one was your fault.  It was an overtime game; your added voice of confidence would have put them over the top.  Of this I am most supremely confident.  Be on the look out for super sophisticated mishaps in your life, like laser-guided miniature rockets dropping heavy objects on your car and the like.

Let's go Caltech - it would seem karmaic if there is one winless and one winful team.

Even more than his exuberation, DC's 64 karma points alone would have been enough to edge one tip-in attempt into the goal! :'(

Forgot, there is no crying in basketball.

It's at Oxy, tomorrow at 7:30.  I could be talked into going.  Drop me a line.
