Greg or other "veterans"- my mind can't remember too well, but if you have the time and memory, please reminice about the exploits of Howard Megdal for our newer fans as we progress towards the big game  -  kind of a super bowl pregame special.

It was Howard Megdal's coverage of Bard as they competed in the Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference* that first gave me notice of this creative genius.

Bard was being invited to compete in the newly-reconstitued North Eastern Athletic Conference.  Hilbert and Medaille has been invited to the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference, leaving behind Cazenovia, D'Youville and Keuka.  Those 3 schools looked across the D3 landscape and virtually invited every remaining independent and provisional D3 school that they could find from Maryland northward.  Bard was one of the selections.  From those 12 invitees, the NEAC was able to earn a Pool A bid in the 2006-07 season.

I did not fully appreciate Howard's reporting style.  His coverage of the HVMAC was unique to these boards.  Howard doesn't post on these boards like he did 3-4 years ago.  The Raptormania site is a classic.

*Interestingly, the Culinary Institute of America won the Fall 2006 Men's Soccer Championship of the HVMAC.

Indeed it is. Sort of the D3 athletics equivalent of Mother JonesThe Onion, and The UFO Report;D

Whitman, justifies its horrible No 11 of 12 rating in the WAD3 ratings by sliding by La Sierra, 62-59 ,  falling off our list of winless against D3

I'm sure you're thinking of Howard Megdal.  I've always assumed he was the comic genius behind Raptormania.com, but I could be wrong.

Howard Megdal. One of my all-time favorite posters. I hated to see him disappear.

There's a poster in the largely-dormant NEAC room who calls himself "Raptormania", but I don't think it's Howie.
Howard is one seriously funny dude... the Onion is a great comparison to his stuff! I had the privilege of getting to know him as I was working on my site. I got the impression that he still reads this site, but doesn't post much any more. He still definitely follows Bard though! I will have to direct him to this room. I'm sure he'll appreciate the comments.

In addition to offering helpful advice, Howard suggested that we have a running joke of making fun of each other's schools for being afraid to play eachother, which is obviously more ironic for Wheaton, than Bard. In that vein, I wrote an "article" for my definitely-still-in-development webpage on wheatonhoops.googlepages.com/randomstuff. Howard responded with a vastly funner article found on the www.raptormania.com home page. If Cal Tech beats Bard, I will obviously have some pretty darn good fodder for getting back at him for thoroughly schooling me. I knew I was a surrogate fan of Cal Tech for a reason... :D

Did you mean sighting?  You should get Firefox 2.0, I just downloaded it yesterday.  It checks your spelling for you with the (surely not ripped off from microsoft) little red line any time you type anything in the window.  Very handy.  I'm sure my spelling on this site will vastly improve.
