BIG game in winless catagory as winless East Naz takes on Anna Maria, who has beaten only Bard and Newbury  -   East Naz has a real shot at dropping off our list

Emmanuel get Dan Wedster tonite - we may see them drop off the WAD3 list

several other of our winless play tonight, but will likely only enhance their losing record.
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Emmanuel pulls at the victory at Daniel Webster.  Cross them off...

I have a serious question for Northeast Region basketball and specifically GNAC fans.

In the game of pure "Naismithian" basketball, i.e., no charging, no traveling, no palming the basketball, tightly called "moving screens" and 3 second lane violations, etc., can Emmanuel women beat Emmanuel men?

Mr. Ypsi

And, Ralph, I believe that would also include being a NO contact sport - no hand-checks, no physical jostling for rebound position, no using your butt to bull your way towards the hoop, etc.

East Naz LOSES in OT to Anna Maria  -  this loss could move them up in the ratings!!!!

Yes.  Do the women beat the men on passing, movement away from the ball, FT shooting, set plays, etc.?

Amherst moves to 12-0 with a 76-52 win at Wesleyan with Pat Coleman on hand.  :)

hopefan-----back to Steve Hettinga, he was promoted to head coach at Olivet in 1998 after Olivet had posted a 4-21 (1-11 MIAA) in 1997, longtime coach Gary Morrison's final season in a 29 year career.

A little side note, the Olivet program credits Hettinga with being Head Coach in 96 and 97 even though Gary Morrison was on the bench and in the team photos, as was Hettinga.  I'm not sure why he gets credit for those seasons, I'm going with 97 since he's listed as Head Coach by the MIAA and I remember Morrison's last game in Holland.

The Hettinga file
98....5-20......2-10 7th
99....15-10....8-6 3rdtie
00....15-10....7-7 4thtie
01....12-12....6-6 4th
02....10-16....4-8 6th
03....11-15....3-9 6th
04....11-15....5-7 5th

Cummulative record of 79-98 and 35-53 in MIAA.

The winning records in 99 and 00 were Olivet's first since 1984 and only the 3rd and 4th since 1973.

Hettinga made Olivet more competitive and the road trips to Olivet were not easy during his tenure.  He beat Hope 3 out 4 years at home.  I don't recall that he ever beat Calvin, maybe once or twice, but not in any of Calvin's MIAA championship years.

I think he would be known as a  pretty good recruiter and definately upgraded the athletes that made their way to Olivet.  Definately changed their on court presense.  But to be honest, he had a very difficult job turning Olivet into anything more that what they turned out under his leadership, he kind of hit the ceiling if you will.  Difficult to get over that hump.

He would also be known as a very intense guy on the sideline, had a couple good blowups while I was in attendance.

I hope he does well at MacMurray

hopefan

Thanks Sac  - he got another win last night to go 4-0 in conference, with 2 road games coming up this weekend.

As expected, our other losers went as and lost last night.  PSU Berks and Principia stayed perfect, though Prin lost by only 11 to SLIAC first place team MacMurray,   Green Mountain maintained their No 1 WAD3 rating by losing by 40 to Middlebury, and Lincoln Christian lost, but nearly upset Eureka.

Several games tonight, with best chance for a win seemingly for Alma at home vs Kalamazoo.

Emmanuel is gone now, with a big win over hapless Daniel Webster, who might actually be the worst team in the country and are certainly the worst team no one is talking about.  I don't understand ENC at all; they hung tough with Connecticut College on Saturday and then lose to Anna Maria last night.  In their defense, Anna Maria College is the most depressing place in the country.

True enough, although they were against three truly hapless teams.  But, when examining that list, I notice that I totally forgot about Albertus Magnus, who really should be listed as the worst team in d3.  I withdraw my previous statement.

Ah, Principia may give them a run for their $$, though PSU - Berks is last in NON-Mov Massey, and Bard is last is MOV Massey.
