New rule next year: no picking Amherst.  I know it's probably the right pick, but it's no fun.

I didn't even check, but with their traditional early-season schedule, they are always tempting!  But with Olson graduating, I doubt I'll pick them next year.  (I'm surprised no one picked Guilford - Ben Strong plus a light early schedule ... ?)

And, just in case Amherst DOES prevail, I trust sac and Point Special will concede that I picked 'em first - you snooze, you lose! :o ;D  (Of course, if they flame out, I disavow any knowledge of that pick.)

Darn, darn, darn....

I was either going to pick RIC or Keene State and I picked the wrong one!

The truth of the matter is an old Potsdam guy like me just can't "bear" the thought of typing Plattsb.... (see, I can't do it)  in a contest like this one.

SECOND CHANCE SURVIVOR POOL!!!

DEADLINE IS FRIDAY, NOV. 30TH BEFORE TIP OFF!  :D ;) ;D

For those still alive in the original pool, you may also pick a second chance team at this time.

EDIT:  YOU MAY NOT TAKE A TEAM THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN SELECTED IN THE ORIGINAL POOL

Amherst
McMurry
Rochester
Plattsburgh St.
Williams

It's just for fun anyway, so why not??!!

HOPEFULLY WE CAN GET MORE POSTERS IN ON THIS ONE!

When I took Plattsburgh St. in the original pool, it was as a result of a coin flip with Guilford.  So the Quakers would be my choice for the second chance pool.

Honestly, I considered picking UWSP...  but Point's early season schedule included Northern Michigan, and though the game was in Point (and I knew of NMU's players who graduated), it still is a game against a DII team that, from all accounts, took it to Point physically last year, and Point's only real banger was also lost to graduation.  This, plus the fact that NMU knocked Point of of the Survivor pool last year too.

I also knew that Point could have early tests in Carroll (Sweet 16 last year) and would have to travel to Whitewater (Since the '96-'97 season, Point and WW have each won 14 games apiece in the series).  Last year, Point swept, the year before, WW swept, and each of the previous 4(?) seasons, UWSP and UWW have split.  I still think Point's going to win this one... but it's a risk I wasn't willing to take!

Also, in 4 of the last 7 years, Whitewater has given Point their first loss of the year.

... On that note, for my second pick, I'll take UWSP!

Mr. Ypsi

In my 10:47 post last night, I (tongue-in-cheek) reminded sac and Point Special that I had 'first dibs' on Amherst.  In that same post I expressed surprise that no one had selected Guilford.  Therefore, when I now select Guilford as my second team, David and abominable can call me a 'johnny-come-lately' only due to the technicality that there was no second chance tourney at the time! ;) ;D
