TITANIC

I also think a CCIW all star team could take on most Divison 1-AA teams and be competitive.  Division 1-A.. not a chance

Looking at the websites and talking to people, it appears both Elmhurst and Augustana had great trips overseas.  Way to represent the CCIW well boys.
I know this has been talked about a few times, but I really think IWU has a shot a great year this year.  Panno, Dunlop, a senior laden group.. I think they have the pieces in place to make some noise.  IMO, I think Wheaton is going to run the table, but I also think IWU has a chance to be near the top come November.

Be careful Jaybird, i made the same mistake on IWU last year and look what it got me. The bottome line on IWU is the talent on the offensive and defensive lines is way down from their championship runs and while they have some very good skill players returining, if they don't get the trenches shored up they won't be much better. Wheaton has what will likely be a dominant front 4 on defense and an excellent offensive line. From reports I have heard Ullrich had a great spring and appears poised to make some plays as the full time signal caller.

Couldn't disagree more.  I think you forget how good IWU was up front when they were competing.   That is not the case at this point.  I hope you and the others overlook the beloved Cardinals.   I'd much rather go in as the underdog.  Wheaton is easily the team to beat in 2007.

LOL... yup.  Those were Wannie's infamous words regarding the Bear's certain Super Bowl appearance... about 18 weeks prior to his firing.

Did you stop reading what other people wrote before you post?  I think you still have post concussion syndrome from your playing days.

I knew you had a little Wheaton deep down inside of you. keep up the good work.

You're right that those were Wannstedt's words.  I was NOT a Wannstedt fan.  I was babysitting my Cousin and doing a puzzle with him, when I was writing that message.
As we all know, nobody gets anywhere without a sturdy O-Line and a fast, penetrating D-Line, but you DO need to have skill in the skilled positions.  I just recall vividly thinking Panno and Dunlop were pretty skilled players that could make a difference this year.

The only thing I remember Dunlop doing against NCC was firing up the Cardinals with bulletin board material.

I guess that is the reason that 79 said IWU needs a good o-line, to showcase Mr. Dunlop's talent. apparently they do not teach linear thought proccess at the naperville school. ;)
With ordinary talents and extraordinary perseverance, all things are attainable.

Comet 14

Wow! Things are heating up and it's still 3 months from football actually starting. I can't wait. IMO if IWU doesn't improve there line play considerably they won't be in the top 4 of the conference.
