I am condemned by Geography to be a Lions fan.
I can name other Lions, I guess that is the curse I must live with.

Ever notice no coach leavesDetroit and gets another Head Caoching job, only a few even find another job.

Don't even think about QB's Detroit is a burial ground for them.

That said I think they may actual scare up 7-8 wins this year, but then Hope is Eternal.

Mr. Ypsi

Yeah, since 'Ypsi' is for Ypsilanti MI, I, too, can name plenty of other Lions, though usually not without expletives attached! >:(

I commend your optimism.  But then, I kept waiting for last year's Tigers to collapse right up 'til Labor Day, so maybe miracles DO still happen! :-\

the sad part is a 8-9 season for the Lie-Downs would constitute a Miracle.

8-9??  D306, Unless you had a typo, you're figuring on 8-8 makiing the playoffs, with a first round loss. :-X :-\

:) ;) :D

Mr. Ypsi

I'm pretty sure he meant an 8 or 9 win season - see his earlier post.  Though your scenario or a playoff bid and first round loss also makes sense.

Either would indeed constitute a miracle for the Pussycats.  (Jon Kitna just predicted 11 or 12 wins - gotta like a QB with that spirit, though being downright delusional may not be so good! ;))

Hey guys,

What is the DIII requirements to make the playoffs?

I meant 8 -9 wins.
I do not think 8-8 will get in the playoffs, but in this age of marginal teams ( parity) making the playoffs you never know.

Nice to see some Midwestern teams getting a top 25 rating, in some of the pre-season polls. Though it is tough to gage DIII as most of it is based on returning starters and history of the program. To some extent that holds true for all college pre-season polls.

Speaking of pre-season polls, they really do make a mess out of the BCS and college rankings, there should be no official polls prior to 3-4 weeks of play. The same teams are always ranked and it can be impossible to move up for some of the teams, that are not as well known.

RE: making DIII playoffs, I would think it is win your league, and or have an good win loss record VS. quality teams. Not sure though I know someone will post a copy of the formula.

Our FAQ should help: http://www.d3football.com/faq.php?question&category=Playoffs

Carthage fan, the fastest way to the playoffs is to win the conference outright since the CCIW has an automatic bid (AQ). often times a 1 loss runner up has a70% chance of getting in also. The only sure way, though, is to run the table in conference play.

Coach Conwell was working at IBC so what ever paper is in their area.   Might have been in paper June 21, 22, or 23 depending on standard 1 or 2 day waiting period for paper.
