NCCAlum 62 I agree with you about the polls situation.  I don't really focus on them until week 4-6, towards halfway of the season.  Case in point, we have been 3-0 and 4-0 the last few years and are still looking to reach 8 wins, which I think the Jays have a good shot here in 2007.  They could easily be 5-5 if they don't execute and play well also.  At the halfway marker, we have a pretty good idea of (    )  team and can gauge where they stand.  Pre Season and early on, IMO it's hard to gauge the talent.

Indeed.  Like some of use have said responding to Billy Pilgrim's post.  I'm predicting at least two (maybe 3) at the end of the year.

Any idea on the Carthage travel plans this weekend to Cali. Should be a pretty convincing win this weekend for the Red.
I would have loved to be able to go play a game in Cali.  What a great trip to be able to take.
I would think that the hardest part would be to keep your focus on a trip like that.

From what I have heard is that they will be leaving Friday around lunch, staying their Friday night and then Saturday night after the game.  Due to the fact it is a 7pm Pacific time game and that Whittier would not move change the time.  They then will be traveling back to Kenosha early Sunday morning...

Yes, make sure to wear lead-lined clothing and bring a Geiger counter if you're going to see a football game at the University of Chicago.

We don't play at IWU this week do we?

Not unless you've switched your allegiance to Mt St. Joe. :D

Its got a nice New-Style turf field but a horrible home atmosphere.  No fans for the Chicago side really, maybe some parents.  This student body doesn't care about football. (I've been told by my cousin that goes there that more people attend the intramural football games than thier actual football teams games).

This is also before I think UofC really starts thier term, they start crazy late compared to alot of schools, it was almost mid september when my cousin came in for freshman orientation last year.

I was thinking of going because I live like three blocks away from the UofC but the Cardinals are playing so I'd rather head to that game

GS - You only need to gear up to go to the library.  The current Stagg Field is a couple of blocks away from the place where Enrico Fermi was contracting the cancer that would kill him ten years later at age 53.

Chicago is on quarters and the fall quarter starts Sep 24.  First year orientation begins this Saturday, Sep 15.  So a bunch of new first years, who do not know that you do not attend sporting events at UofC, nothing to study - who knows, there may be a crowd.

It is also "First Night, First Lights" - a special event to commemorate the renovation of Stagg Field.  You can read about it here.

Quick...staring contest.  Go.

That's why I come up here. You win, you always do!

Weather is supposed to be beautiful Saturday in Naperville (and the rest of the CCIW towns...cities....villages....I'll stick with cities, because I'm from the sticks), low to mid 60's and, mostly sunny. Just enough chill to keep me awake before the Lantern comes calling!
You win! You always do!

How is it possible that Bob Meyer didn't play in the NFL?  ::)

Bob Meyer is 7 feet tall and shoots lightning bolts from his arse.

What's with all the Bobby Meyer stuff?  I don't get it?  Did I miss something?  ???

There was some discussion about old CCIW players that had made it or were trying to make it to the NFL.  Bob's name came up.  We still have no update.  However, it generated some exciting discussion about the Chicagoland Football League - http://www.chicagofootball.com

What did happen to Bob Meyer?  I know a lot of guys end up playing for the Chicago Thunder in the west suburbs of Chicago trying to make it to the next level.  However, I'm not sure if Bob was ever part of that crew.

Sorry, not the right team.  But, I think I think it is a team in the Chicagoland Football League.

i clicked on the link and read some of their profiles...pretty funny stuff

Actually, I think JD Sheldon (3 or 4 time All-CCIW) from Augie use to play in this league, but have discovered that he now plays for the Indoor Arena Team - Chicago Slaughter.

After looking at the roster, I've also learned that your beloved Hula Bowl Hoopin' NFL hopeful Lenny Radtke is also on the team.

Good to hear the CCIW is representing a strong showing.

How far off are the players from making it to the Chicago Rush?
