Is Wheaton's Andy Studebaker injured?  Thought I saw an offhand reference to it in someone's in-game comments from this past weekend.  If so, when did it happen, what's the nature of the injury and how serious/long lasting?

My understanding is that he has been dealing with a nagging shoulder injury.  I don't think it is serious, but hopefully not the kind of thing that stays with you all year.

Wheaton needs him 100% healthy and to cause his normal havoc on opposing offenses.  I suspect Swider is being cautious in his playing time until he is 100%.  With Wheaton leading by 3 TD's against Albion, no need to risk unnecessary stress on whatever ailment he is dealing with.

Thanks Mugsy.  I hope its not structural or lingering.  I agree Wheaton's D needs him at full strength, and also I'd hate to see his long-shot at seeing what impression he can make in an NFL camp be short-circuited by something like that.

Yeah, physically I think he has a legitimate chance at a look by an NFL team if he can have a season close to last year.  People don't realize how good of an athlete he is... he is 3rd or 4th on the entire team at the NFL shuttle drill - and he is 6'5" 255lbs.  He was also in the top 5 in several other lifts.

He has all the physical tools but he needs to stay healthy and make an impact on the field, which to this point he hasn't been able too.  I would anticipate his stats will be significantly lower than last year because offenses will pay close attention to where he is at on the field at all times.  He'll be getting double teams and some of the action will be away from him.  But taking double teams can really help the rest of the line succeed and NFL scouts will still see his ability despite double teams (NFL scouts won't need stats to prove the ability).

To answer the Bob Meyer question, it's because the kid had built his own Web page promoting himself. It got a fair amount of derision around these parts.

So does Brian Urlacher but he doesn't get flack...  (kidding)

I've looked for BM's website but can't find it anymore.

Be sure to check out the IBC board to catch a brillant post by Mr. Sager in reply to the rambling lunacy of a new poster over there.

He took the time to craft an excellent post, while I was so frustrated with the complete lack of any hint of logic by AYK that I reverted to banging my head.

Unfortunately it is going to effect his overall stats...not that anyone needs to know Studebaker is a beast, but his national recognition could lessen a little if he isnt putting up those chart-topping numbers from last year.

It was very well done...I took time out of my "calling friends time" at the office and it was worth it.

Many thanks.  Gotta love the picture of the Bears walking out of the locker room with Urlacher in the middle.

Reminder that the Elmhurst/Chicago game is on the Internet at http://www.wrse.com  or conventional radio at 88.7FM.
We will go on at 5:30-5:45ish CST  for a 6pm CST start.
I am anxious to see the newly renovated Stagg Field.

Do you know that Chicago is the only school to have never lost to Notre Dame?  Or that Chicago is the only school in the Big 10 (past and present) to have a winning record against Michigan?

I love going to U of C because there is so much history on that campus.  I think EC gets this game because their D-Line is older, quicker, and matches up much better at the LB/SS slots.   Then again, usually when these two schools face off against each other, it is a high scoring affair.

Thanks jaybird, I was getting ready to ask the radio station. I couldn't remember it from last year.
