Yes, the passing defense better gel or there are some long games ahead. But the assumption I made about going to a 3-3-5 defensive scheme is that you believe that the strength of your team is the defensive secondary.

Good point midwest.  From the sounds of it, the throw that got picked off which led to the 14 yard drive was questionable too.  I did try to point out that it could have been slanted because it was the press release from WashU.  Seems like the passing defense might still need to gel for the Cards although they did seem to do alright against lesser competition like Benedictine and Concordia-Wis.

Thanks.  It  seems like defensive guys are really committed to their system.  Commentators and news guys always make a big deal of when teams switch to a 3-4 from a 4-3 or vice versa and how it can create problems with personnel used to the previous system. I don't see why this defensive switch should be any different, I'm sure there is a learning curve.
