MattBlake-  I think ( and I'm at work not at the stats board)  but I think there were 3 fumbles and 2 ints.  The overall theme was Elmhurst shooting themselves with some mistakes probably caused by good Wheaton positioning.  It appeared to be more on our end than Wheaton's.  Either way, the fact is We had our chances and (for one reason or another)  just couldn't get it done.  Hey *hit happens, you learn, (we are a young group) and you prepare for next week to beat the Cardinals.
I personally like the Langhorst Bell.  (When I played it didn't ring that often ;D)  but lately it has been ringing loud and proud.  I like it because if you're in and around Elmhurst the bell will signify a victory on gameday.  I think the bell beats a gun salute or a bunch of cars honking aimlessly.

What's the story on Karma???  How does one gain it or lose it.  Coincidentally, I noticed I am at -1 and don't even know how that happened.  ???
Oh well, I think the constant parity and week to week brawls, make life very fun and interesting in the CCIW.

TG,
You watch game film???  Are you a coach or player?  If you are, you shouldn't even be on here posting in my opinion.  If you aren't, why in the world would you be watching game film??

Redman04 has it right. Leave it to a Carthage alum to know the answer. To be more specific I am a parent, but am also part of a team that produces a Carthage Football season highlight tape which is sold as a fundraiser through the "Carthage Football Parents Group". Not only do I enjoy specifically watching and evaluating my son's performance, but I am editing highlights to be used in the year end DVD.

Pat:
What gives? Have I offended you in some way? Every time you respond to a post I may be involved in it drips with derogatory negative karma. Would it be more appealing to you if I said "I watched my digital feed game tape or my 8mm camcorder game tape?

Gotcha jaybird,
Stuff like that is all part of the game.  Incidentally, do you know if Elmhurst has a contact in Florida? Just seems a bit unusual that about 5 players on a roster of roughly 100 would be from Florida.  Checking the other rosters indicates that NCC isn't far behind with 4 players and Carthage has 3.  Wheaton, Millikin, and Wesleyan all have 1, and NP and Augie have none.

Matt, the Florida topic is a big debate at Elmhurst (I don't know about other schools).  Former D Coord.  Gary Roach loved going to Florida to find talent.  At the time there was no D-3 in FL.  When I played at Elmhurst 35-40% of the team was from Florida!  I questioned this b/c you have such a great pool of talent in the IHSA and suburban  Chicago.  Heck the Catholic League produced Mike Alstott and NFL All Pro.
I like what Tom Journell and Henri Stanford are doing to reconstruct Elmhurst's program.  It will not happen overnight and may take 3-5 years.  But the numbers (of players) are up, the wins are starting to be more prevalent, and good things should and will eventually happen.
Florida will continue to be a big recruiting zone and don't get me wrong.  There are great players from the state of Florida.  If I were a coach though, I would spend 70% of my recruiting time in the Chicago Area.  DuPage Valley Conf.  The Catholic Leagues, WSC Gold/Silver, MSL, CSL, etc.

One other thing I forgot to mention Matt, One advantage that Augie, Millikin, and IWU have is their geography.  These schools are far enough away that the student athlete feels like he is far enough away from home.  I know at least 10-15 guys that said no to Elmhurst, NPU, NC, etc. because they felt it was too close to home, or too much like High School.

I was curious if #91 of Carthage was one of the players with previous personal fouls

As a matter of fact he wasn't and wasn't flagged for one during the NCC game as well. An outside linebacker got one for roughing the kicker and a DB got one for an unnecessary hit after the last NCC offensive score.

TG,

Fair enough.  I think it's great that parents get involved in their sons or daughters respective programs.  One of my favorite posters on here is a Carthage alum parent(Irish21). I respect the way Rucks gets his teams to play, which is hard and physical.   My only beef is that through the years, his teams have been known to take some liberties with a hit here or there.  Others have stated that on this site for years.  It's not just coming out of Naperville, I have heard it from Rock Island, Decatur, Wheaton, etc.  Where there's smoke, there's fire.  I'm sure Rucks doesn't condone the cheap shots, but they sure seem to happen anyway.

I haven't seen a Carthage game yet with Sharp or O'Boyle. Last year I saw Garza. In the opinion of the fans that have seen both, who do you think is the better QB?

dansand,
The ride from Wheaton to Decatur is mind numbing.  Can't imagine what that ride from Rock Island is like.  Player 1: "Hey, what's in that field."  Player 2: "Corn."  Player 1: "What's in that field?"  Player 2: "Corn."  Repeat at will for 2 hours.

I drive from Bloomington to Decatur about once a month, easily.  It's not all just corn, it's soybeans too.  Cept soon it will be nothing at all, making it even more exciting.  Thankfully if I go see the Wheaton/IWU game (as I often do) I will be able to stay here in town and check it out...I think it's here this year..

You watch game film? C'mon, man, you're 20 years behind the times. Most teams are using tape or even digital video by now! :)

No matter what the technology it will always be called game film.  Just like it will always be called "cutting up" film even though it is now almost always done on computers now.  Not with scissors and tape!
;D
