IWU 22
Augustana 19

Augustana fakes a punt and picks up 22yds into Titan territory.  IWU holds the Vikings to another 4th down and Augustana tries another fake punt which is not successful.  Titans complete a 15 yd pass to Ceisel for a first down.

Titan Q

A great win for IWU.  I am out of town but got to listen online and that was quite a game.

IWU 22
Augustana 19
Final

Huge victory for the Titans tonight!  The defense played really well, holding Augustana to field goals on a few drives and the offense came up with an enormous 98 yard drive for the winning TD.  Bo Lanter was the story on offense, 17 carries 157yds 2 TD for the freshman running back.

Great game by both teams tonight.

Congrats to the TITANS and let's keep it up!
Things are never as good as they seem and things are never as bad as they seem.

Titan Q

Another huge punt team mistake by the Titans - with the score 3-0 Augie early, IWU once again snapped it over the punter's head, leading to another safety.  The resulting field position led to a Viking TD.  Fortunately for IWU it did not cost them the game.

Glad to see one of the Wheaton LB's is back.  Can someone update me on the overall injury situation for the Thunder?  Which key players (expected starters) are out, and for how long?  I know the QB is.  Having trouble keeping track of the OL and LB situations, in particular.

Is Swider rotating/shading the secondary toward the side of the field not patrolled by Ittersagen?  I know teams with a stud CB sometimes do that, the way teams used Deion Sanders back in the day and here locally (for me), Virginia Tech's DC Bud Foster often does this when he has a stud at CB - forcing the offense to choose between throwing to a heavily defended side of the field, or to the less defended side of the field which has the star DB patrolling it.  This often results in more throws at the star DB than you would otherwise expect.

OLB Mike McKinney - ACL knee injury (out for the season)
OT Thomas Christnet - ACL knee injury (out for the season)
QB Zach Ullrich - Hematoma in brain (seemingly out for the season)
RB Rocky Gingg - foot injurt (??)
DE Aaron Reyes - ACL knee injury (out for the season)

These are the only significant injuries I'm aware of.  There are always a number of tweak and strains that sideline a player for a game here or there...

Regarding rotation of CB for Wheaton, by in large Wheaton generally doesn't rotate what side the CB align.  In rare cases there has been a game or two where it has happened...  Now I haven't seen Wheaton rotate the secondary either in effort to influence the side of the field opposite Ittersagen.  First of all that can introduce more problems than not because it may not fit the scheme.  Secondly Langs and the safeties have proven themselves to be more than capable, so there isn't much need to compensate.

Didn't expect to see the Titans take down the Vikings.  Congrats to all you Wesleyan fans on a great win!

This new Wheaton scoreboard is huge.  The replays looked good and all the information needed in a game is clearly posted (the replays are only used on scoring plays and not during a series).  Very impressive.

I suspect that given newer video equip (ie. cameras) to go with the replays we'll see more replays from different angles other than the one from nosebleed seat that shows entire field.  Even so was  good to see in action.
Steve Pagh had an interception taken away by a bad call from out of position umpire.  He clearly had arms under ball when he caught it off deflection.
Millikin did not play their starting quarterback, according to program, and probably good thing.  He was able to scramble away from Studdebaker and had just enough time on one occasion,(I am holding my fingers a millimeter apart) to throw his 37 yard touchdown pass.  QB had all the rushing yardage and really gave the Wheaton defense fits on his ability to run both in called plays and on broken ones.
Just disappointed that Wisconsin beat MSU,  Spartans hung tough in Madison.

I heard about the new "megatron" that Wheaton got... I'm not going to lie, it kind of makes me sick, this is D3 football, what the heck!

Pat Coleman

Linfield, Mount Union and UW-Whitewater have these as well, offhand. May be more.

Mount Union maybe I understand, Whitewater is huge, the size of medium D1's so again, I kind of understand, I know nothing about Linfield.

Part of the nausea comes from the fact that its Wheaton too...

McMurry added a 9' by 12' video this year as part of the incremental improvements to the athletic facilities.

Of course, we could play at Shotwell (Abilene Public Schools) Stadium and have a $500,000 video screen that overlooks the 15,000 seat stadium.  :)

We see this as one of the attractions to getting smaller high schools to play games on the McMurry campus...part of the effort to get high school kids onto the campus.

Bo Lanter and Rocky Gingg - potential candidates for CCIW Freshman of the year???

Are there any other Freshman making signifcant contributions on either side of the ball this year?

matblake

Congrats to the Titans on this victory.  This certainly makes the CCIW race more interesting.
