Pat,
I know it's a little early to talk about playoffs, but will you do the seeding show on ESPN again this year?
HEY NORM, I LOST YOUR HAT! GO REDMEN!!!

Alum...I agree with Charlie Weis that I'm not into "moral" victories or "good losses" but...I think the Irish are back on the DI map. That was one hell of a football game! After watching all the post game interviews, Pete Carroll is a class act. He knew they escaped with one and said he was proud to be part of the most exciting game he had ever been involved in.

They might as well engrave Reggie Bush's name on the Heisman. What a stud!

Besides the 61 yard completion on 4th and 9, I thought the difference in the game was Southern Cal's speed.

Redman, yes. I'll be in Bristol, even, not on location in a loud and distracting ESPN Zone.

3 Weeks into the CCIW season.  any frontrunners for POY?
Offensively-  Kniss
Defensively- Radtke
COY-  Thorne

Maybe some loyalty, but I think so far they are pretty accurate

What does Elmhurst do well?  Do they have a solid defensive backfield? O-Line?

With 32 teams getting into the playoffs this year, any possibilities of conferences getting 3 teams in?

Depending on what Elmhurst finishes...I'd give their coach, COY honors over Thorne.  Thorne is doing what he should do with the talent he has.

Irish-I plan to be there as of now. depends on the life events as we approach.

DH-i'm glad someone laughs at me besides me.

On Karma-I believe we should hold a Karma party 1x per week. everyone deserves to be positive just for spending time on here.  :-\

no way radtke is DPOY at this point. he is no where near as dominant as he was a year ago (although i am not sure why). I would give it to fox, barnes or pelkowski at carthage. agree on kniss and thorne so far.

U,
I tend to agree with you, whether it be that teams are scheming to account for him or the people in front of him aren't as good as last year, I have seen Radtke making too many plays after 4 and 5 yard gains by the offense.  Last year he was blowing plays up in the backfield.  He did make a couple of big plays in the game against Carthage, but I will wait to see how the rest of the year unfolds.  Kniss is hands down the best player in the conference right now and, for now, I will agree on Thorne, although the Elmhurst coach may warrant some consideration as well.

I'll take the word of others about Kniss being the best offensive player in the conference. I have only seen him play one time and have no reference to judge him on. Question: If I told you a particular team's QB was 16 for 39 with 3 int's for the day and that's all you heard would that sound like a good day at the QB position? 312 yards is a very good day passing, but what would the quarterback rating equate to? At almost 20 yards per catch the receivers deserve some credit for Kniss's success.

in response to the dirty play questions...I don't think Carthage played "dirty" the whole game by any means...but they let emotion get the better of control late in the game when they needed it most and that is a reflection of coaching.

A coach needs to harness the energy and emotion of a player and channel it into making great plays between the whistles.  I would never call coach Rucks a dirty coach or someone that thinks that is the way to play football.  I will say that his players mistakes are an effect of thier aggressive and hit harder than thier opponent attitude that they brought to thier games against us and others around the conference.

The problem isn't that Coach Rucks allows or encourages dirty play (none of us are saying that in the least).  What is the problem is that when the game was on the line on Sat his players made stupid mistakes that cost them the football game.  That is a reflection of coaching.  No insult to Carthage, I liked playing them because I knew they would bring thier best every play in the trenches, but no one can deny that they cost themselves football games with late hits, and personal fouls.

tailgater - i think you would have to add TD's to that question as well.....you can't just leave it at completions/attempts, yards, and INTs and ask what you would think of those stats....cuz then one would assume there were no TD's thrown.....

that being said....i believe he threw 3 TDs (2 to spencer and 1 to Ernest). so a line of..

16-39, 312 yds, 3 TDs, 3 INTs

....doesn't really look that bad. i'd take that from my fantasy QB any week! hh :P

but i do agree. Kniss has some outstanding weapons at reciever, and without them he wouldn't have nearly as gaudy the numbers.
You win! You always do!

I would give the coy award to coach journell. Like it was stated earlier, ncc is doing what they should do with the talent they have. Elmhurst has played well all year.
