Mr. Ypsi

Special teams did NOT blow it!  IWU kicked a fg, leads 18-7 with 7:20 remaining.

Judging from past performances, Mr. Ypsi anticipated a wild snap, picked up and run in by the Blue.  I'm now breathing again.

usee, I understand your point.  But what's the fun of waiting 'til the last week or two to say who is and who isn't a contender! ;D

NCC gets a debatable turnover at midfield and they capitalize. Fanthorpe 39 yd td pass

That's no fun at all I agree. Believe me, your IWU scenario is looking more likely than plausible.

another int for NCC. the cardinal have the ball at the ELM 20 w 11 min to play

Mr. Ypsi

Millikin forces a Titan punt w/ 5 remaining; punt returner loses fumble!  IWU scores with 4:26 remaining, now up 24-7.  Millikin out of timeouts.  Chalk this one in the win column!

However, my 'faith' in special teams has, alas, been restored - the kick for the extra point failed.  THIS game it won't matter, but special teams will be the death of us yet. :'(

NCC scores again, then intercepts kudyba for a 3rd straight possesion. 1st and goal for ncc.

they score.

NCC 41
Elm 24

9 min to go.

It's now officially over in B'town.  IWU wins 24-7.  The Titans had FIVE picks, plus recovering that fatal fumble with 5 minutes remaining.  As I've said for several weeks now, IMO the defense makes IWU a legitimate contender; the special teams could lose any game.  Bottom line: they COULD win the title, but probably won't.

Just being consistent - they are definitely (IMO) a contender, but also (IMO) not a favorite.  Kinda like when Buster Douglas got the title shot against Mike Tyson! ;D

The Titans looked solid overall today.  The offense sputtered quite a bit in the 3rd quarter, but the offensive line woke up in the 4th and got a little room for the RB's to keep drives alive.

They've still got some tough ones ahead of them, but I think the Titan defense will keep them in the games they have left.  Whether or not the rest of the team will be able to elevate their game each week to pull off wins, we'll have to wait and see, but it should be fun either way.

Also, that final TD today was a FANTASTIC catch by Martin Ceisel over double coverage.  Kudos to Ceisel on the catch and to the rest of the Titans for a good win today.
Things are never as good as they seem and things are never as bad as they seem.

Looks like those tall Titan receivers had another good day...

Congrats to North Central and IWU on another set of strong performances.  Carthage fans, I'm glad you survived that scary matchup against North Park ;)

Now, on to the nightcap....
