NCC up big over millikin. no idea what the score is. I listened for 10 minutes and only heard that all the NCC subs were playing, never a score.

Jim Matson

So it looks like the Titans are the real deal.  Another qtr to play?

Final in Bloomington: Titans 28, Blue Jays 14.

Barring huge upsets, the title will be on the line in Bloomington on November 10th! ;D

Listening to Swider on the pregame show:

Sean Norris has a sprained MCL and will NOT play this week and possibly next. The injury bug strikes again. Swider says "we are not a healthy team right now, not even close....3 of our 5 top defensive linemen didn't play last week and won't play tonight"

Kyle Bradley to play and go the whole way tonight.

NCC led 23-0 at half and 37-6 after 3 quarters. Most of the Big Blue yards/points were scored against the Cardinal's 2nd & 3rd strings.

Offensively for NCC, Fanthorpe was 12 of 15 for 256 yards with 2 TDs, and Sulo  carried 16 times for 87 yards. Joe Mastrino had 4 receptions for 127 yards (impressive) and 2 TDs. Matt Wenger led the defense with 11 tackles, including 2 for loss.

Swider also says Pete Ittersagen will be playing with a broken thumb tonight and will not return punts as a result.

WOW.

almanza (starting DT) and Norris (starting qb) out 1-3 weeks. Studebaker out for at least another week.

Congrats to the Titans for a homecoming win today.  I was extremely impressed with the offensive line's play today, especially considering the line consisted of 1 senior, 3 sophs, and 1 freshman.

Elmhurst has pretty darn good pursuit on defense.  It didn't seem like IWU was able to get much of anything going in the outside run game, but when they stayed between the tackles and just went with power, they were successful.  I'll tell you what, this was the best game I've ever seen Marcus Dunlop play.  He came up with some tough runs that you wouldn't expect out of someone his size and really led the team today.

It was an excellent defensive struggle in the first half, which then swung to a back-and-forth affair later in the 3rd quarter.  Elmhurst had a chance to get back in it late, but the Titan defense came up big again with a INT in the endzone in the 4th.

Congrats again to the Titans on a very solid homecoming victory today!
Things are never as good as they seem and things are never as bad as they seem.

I thought it was interesting that IWU tried the onsides kick up 21-7. It backfired and Elmhurst drove to get within 7 but IWU's most impressive performance of the day was the lengthy drive after that Bluejay TD to stretch the lead back to 14pts and squash any momentum Elmhurst had regained. That's the sign of a very confident team and what you need to do in big games.

Wheaton up 14-0 first quarter. The Thunder has 150 yds offense to 16 for NPU

IWU a big win for them today in Btown. They do it on the ground. this is only the 2nd game they have over 100 yds rushing as a team (other time was 114 vs augie). Also only the 2nd time they have more than 280 yds of offense (400+ today to go with the 454 at carthage).

Different pieces of the team have stepped up in each of these games. You need that to win the title. IWU will go to Chicago vs NPU next week and then finish with a brutal schedule @NCC and Vs. Wheaton.

Wheaton substituted most of their dline and NPU takes advantage going down the field inside the THunder 10. Wheaton brings their starting front back in and NPU scores anyway. 24-6 Wheaton leads (missed kick)

Despite a slow start, IWU's offense was really good today.  The Titans had 29 first downs vs Elmhurst...I am guessing that is the most first downs of any CCIW team in conference play this year?  IWU had 220 yards on the ground and 224 passing.  Martin Ceisel had another big game - 12 receptions for 162 yards and 2 TD's.  Marcus Dunlop was definitely the MVP though - 162 yards rushing.

It's on to North Park.
