"When was the last time a team from IBFC won a playoff game"  Redman04... I agree and "When was the last time an IBFC beat a CCIW team?
Lakeland and CUW are o.k. but would struggle at the bottom of our conference annually.  Teams like IBC CURF Eureka, etc. are just not at the same level as the 8 schools in our conference.  It's not a put down, it's just a different playing field.

I will give credit to lakeland 96-99.  They were a very good team.  I am not sure but I think they won like 20 something in a row, but did not go to the playoffs.  I think that was before there was an automatic qualifier for the IBC.  IMO they are nowhere near the team that they were then.

i noticed saturday they have the standup TE, what gives?? Do any other schools run this offense?

Carthage has done that since their new OC has been there.  Not sure what the reason is?

Irish,
Is your favorite redman going to make it to one the remaining games? I keep looking for him buthavn'y seen him since year year at Mt Union.

Coach...he was at homecoming this past weekend. Said he was hanging out in a beer tent of all things!! I'm not sure if he's going to any other games. We had planned on going to Wheaton this Saturday but the Fremd playoff game is getting in the way. He is helping us out on game days as an extra set of eyes up in the booth.

Good to hear from you!

PS. I see Henry is helping coach at Carthage this season. Is he enjoying it?

Stat question for any experts out there,
When it is reported that someone has x amount of tackles for lost yardage and y amount of sacks does the x amount include the y amount.  In other words all y's are considered as tackles for loss just more descriptive?  So when someone is reported to have 6 tackles for loss and 3 sacks that means 3 of his 6 tackles were sacks and  the 3 sacks are not to be added to make a total of 9.
Also not every qb tackle behind the line of scrimmage is not considered a sack, correct?

on wheaton v carthage:

wheaton's offense does not match up w carthage's d. i expect some pain and suffering.

wheaton's d should match up well w carthage offense.  wheaton's defense is maturing nicely and making some plays. their offense needs to help them out some more. i expect this to be a low scoring affair and if wheaton's offense can't figure out a way to stay on the field, carthage will eventually score.

we will see what each of these good teams has left after both have suffered 2 tough losses. this was to be the matchup of the season and unfortunately for both sides is a battle of the also ran's.

on CCIW title and playoff's: as i mentioned here earlier, if both teams take care of business and augie prevails in rock island, we should easily get 2 teams in the playoffs. if augie loses to ncc we will  have only 1 rep.(augie has a loss already-but its out of region).

here are their remaining games:

NCC:
millkin, @augie, north park

augie:
elmhurst, ncc, @wheaton

augie has the tougher slate but hosts ncc. i just don't see ncc stopping the augie offense this year and if augie is that much better on defense they will be tough to beat in rock island. wheaton has done it 2yrs in a row to go to the playoffs. we will see if ncc is up to the task. elmhurst has been pesky so augie can't be looking too far ahead and I think millkin has the ability to give ncc some trouble.

here's hoping both win this saturday to set up the title matchup our league deserves next week!

Bully...Tackles for losses and sacks should result in the player getting credit for those actions plus a solo tackle. If the qb is not attempting to pass, it is not a sack. It is a tackle for loss.

If he is attempting to pass and gets tackled behind the LOS, it is a tackle for loss and a sack.

At least the above is true in HS football. I would think it is similar in college.

Looking at both teams (Augie/NC), they both have a difficult remaining 3 games.  Millikin is always a tough game, and the battle between the two will be a classic.  I think either way, the CCIW gets two teams in.  The big question is can they make it past the Quarterfinals as has been mentioned earlier.

jaybird-the only way the cciw gets two team in is if augie beats ncc and both teams win there remaining games. if ncc beats augie, we get one rep by virtue of augie having 2 losses. i just don't see us getting a team w 2 losses in the playoffs.

I agree usee.  Especially with Mt. Union losing last weekend since the automatic qualifier in the OAC is now a little more in doubt.  One of the pool C slots would definitely be taken by Mt. Union/Ohio Northern (provided their appeal is still pending ???) if they both win out.  With the NCAC, MIAA, OAC, CCIW, and IBFC, and HCAC all getting automatic bids there is virtually no possibility of a 2 loss team filling a Pool B or C slot without a rash of craziness happening in the upcoming weeks.
