Small comfort to Coach Swider, but he's getting my vote for CCIW Mixed Metaphor of the Year. ;)

Though if wounded animals did have bullets, I suppose hunting could be considered a more 'fair' contest! ;)

Only if the wounded animals had guns with which to fire those bullets, which Swider didn't state.

Also, there's that whole "opposable thumbs" thing ...

Congrats to NCC for coming into Kenosha and taking care of their business. They made Carthage look like........well.......NP :. (no disrespect intended).

Judging from the couple of -hits on my karma I guess some where insulted anyway. I couldn't think of any other team historically in the CCIW to compare the Red Men's incapability of winning yesterday. Sorry again to whom-ever took this as an insult. again.... not intended.

Coach Rucks said this morning he is still embarrassed about the game yesterday. One of those things that occasionally happens, when the bleeding starts and you can't do anything to stop it.

I would guess You took a hit for saying something nice abourt me!!!

All kidding aside it was a pleasure to meet you and put a face to the posts!

Congrats to all CCIW teams.  It was another fun year and I look forward to it all again next year!
-----Still hate IWU but Credit is due! Good luck NCC in playoffs! I am sure you will represent this conference well.

About the game in Kenosha yesterday, it was not the game that I thought I would see! Oh well Congrats to the REDMEN!  Great Job!

good to know you won't be posting much past next week when the team you cheer for will be  truley out of the play off picture soon enough.

Regret posting this now?

Don't assume that it was an NPU fan or fans who hit the smite button, Tailgater. I think that there's five of us North Park alumni who have 200+ posts. Two of them don't read this room, two haven't posted in here for so long that I wonder whether they even lurk here anymore, and then there's me -- and I did not smite you.

The only two semi-regular NPU posters in this room are Lakeshore and myself, and Lakeshore does not have smiting capability. He's only up to 57 posts or so.

Word to the wise: Don't inadvertently make enemies of the entire posting cadre of a school ... unless you don't care about your karma or you really, really don't like that particular school. Since you obviously care about your karma, and I don't sense that you have any particular animosity towards NPU, it doesn't serve you well to accuse us Parkers of smiting you when you have no proof that we did so. I for one did not take offense at your jab at NPU -- how could I, when it's true? When someone in this league gets smacked around on the gridiron, NPU is obviously the best comparison available for the losing team. On the other hand, I'm a little miffed that you leaped to the conclusion that we were the ones who dealt your karma a blow.

Good points GS. I have never taken a census on the board to see who is who and all that stuff. Just a knee jerk thought as who might take some offense to a an unflattering comparison comment. I hold no grudges or animosity to any CCIW school.  I have been properly smacked on the hand with the professor's ruler. I offer you my apology and I will now go stand in the corner until dismissed. ;)

I've always convinced my family that round is a shape...to play in. What position did you play back in your day? I'd stick you on the D-line and have you eating RBs and QBs

After yesterdays performance, I think Fanthorpe has locked up the OPOY.

There hasnt been a CO-DPOY since 2000 when JD Leman and Jeff Heinzl shared it.  (by the way, nice win yesterday for JD's younger brother against OSU)  College football is so great, isn't it??

I think this year it happens again.
DPOY goes to Ittersagen/Wenger

Coach of the year:

Thorne has turned around the NC program in the 6 seasons he has been here.  The nature of football is so much different around the Naperville campus that it makes you forget about the low points before he arrived.  I remember the 1st time Coach Thorne addressed the team when he arrived. He said "We are going to make this exciting and people are going to want to watch North Central play".   And that is exactly what happened..

In the process, he has won more games than any other coach in the CCIW but Swider since he arrived.  He has won back to back conference championships, gone to the playoffs 3 Straight seasons and has put North Central on the map.  He has yet to be named coach of the year in the conference.  The coaches who have earned it have definitely deserved thier award, but I think most everyone would agree that it is time to give Thorne the credit he deserves for not only Winning the CCIW again, but for making NC the strong program that it is.

I would not have a problem if Eash was the co-coach of the year.  Congrats to the Titans on an exciting season down in Bloomington capped off with a Conference Championship!

Good luck Cards.  Very favorable match-up vs. Franklin.  The second round will most likely be in Wisconsin...who knows what will happen?  Although still quite a challenge, as many have noted, it's better (and something new) vs. heading to Alliance.

Represent well.

Nice CSTV interview of Andrew Studebaker... some of the video clips show how scary good he is.  A great combination of strength, speed and quickness.

I'd be shocked if he doesn't get some serious looks by NFL teams.

Any chance of getting a redshirt?

Nope... he played in too many games this year (5 games) - although he probably only was in the game for the equivalent of 2 games due to blowouts at the half and he hurt his ankle during the first series of the NCC game.  I'll bet he was only in on 75 plays for the entire season.  Sure would have been fun to see him play and entire year and 100% health.  Players of his talent don't come around too often at the D3 level.

and I'm pretty sure the redshirt eligibility rules have changed to where he wouldn't have been eligible even if he only played in 1 or 2 games...

Mr. Ypsi

Not positive, but I think the (medical) redshirt limit is 25% of games.  Regardless, he would not be eligible (for which his folks no doubt sighed in relief over dodging the $30,000 bullet ;D).

Thorne for CCIW Coach of the Year ... that is all.

Ain't gonna happen. Eash is going to win it ... and deservedly so.
Are you saying Eash deserves the award moreso than Thorne?  If so, why?

After reading a few more posts, it's obvious the debate for Coach of the Year has begun.  I believe Eash deserves some consideration for COY.  However, since Thorne wasn't Co-COY last season after winning the CCIW title and gaining the AQ, then he shouldn't have to share the award this year either.  IMHO, he should win the award outright this season just as Swider did last year.  Afterall, Thorne duplicated his success of a year ago without his number one gun and two time OPOY in Kniss.  The vote doesn't have to be unanimous but it should be majority.  John Thorne for CCIW Coach of the Year everyone!!!  Congrats to both NCC and IWU for sharing in the championship this year!!!

"Deserves" could certainly be debated either way.  But as a "prediction", I'll go with Greg.  Very simple reasoning: The coaches vote on the award.  The coaches picked NCC for 3rd, IWU for 7th.  They are co-champs.  From the coaches' perspective, Eash exceeded expectations more than Thorne.  QED. ;)
