I think that it can be argued that Mount Union was imitating Augie, not the other way around, since the Doggies were the original D3 gridiron dynasty. The Mount didn't win its first national championship until seven years after the fourth and final Augie title.

Yes, I was speaking more in jest, though not chronologically correct.  And I did look up Lacina and it looks like he would have been in college in the early 90's, so I guess I'm off on that one too.  Memory's the second thing to go.  Forgot what the first is.
Hail, Hail, the gang's all here, all out for Wesleyan!

With the end of the IBC football, the IBC posters are wandering around Post Patterns looking for a place to post their messages.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Congrats to all the IBFC players that were named to the 2007 All Region (North) Team.

I beleive CUW, AU, BU, Lakeland had players,  DI hope I did not omit a school. Great Job.

you would be better off posting this on the IBFC board but I agree, congrats to them.  ;D ;)

Looking at the first CCIW Dynasty that was Wheaton during Harve Chrouser's 1950 teams.  Then you have Carthage and Art Keller's ~1970 dynasty, and then the well known Augustana Nat'l Championship dynasty between 1983-1986  Some could argue that Wheaton has been the dynasty most recently in the late 90's/2000 era.

Anybody know if Andy Studebaker is still getting looks to continue playing football professionally?

Question,
How come we didnt hear more about this TE from Carthage all year?

and  everyone must have picked these pickems right this year, because I believe I only missed 3 of the first round games and nothing else, and I am still in 538th  place out of 834!

I think Augie was the starter team.  Mount has gone above and beyond.

True, although Augie has one accomplishment that the Mount has yet to match: A fourpeat. Mount Union has a pair of threepeats, and next Saturday will most likely make it three threepeats for the Ohioans, but they've never won the Stagg Bowl four years in a row the way that Augie did in the 1980s.

Bergman was well known. He destroyed people as a jr. I think many teams focused on him as a sr. he scored against NCC as a jr if I remember right. He is big, athletic and can catch.

I was going to say that I would still take 9 over 4 anyday but who am I kidding I would be excited for just 1.

I mostly brought it up because I wonder if matching Augustana's fourpeat (and possibly passing it with a fivepeat) is consciously used as one of the carrots dangling on the stick in front of Mount Union.

And, yeah, I'm not proud of myself for using words such as "fourpeat" and "fivepeat". ;)

Not to mention the royalty checks you have to write to Pat Riley every time you use...uh...the one before "fourpeat."

I don't remember reading alot about him on post patterns.  I am pretty sure his name didnt come up very much when OPOY talks were happening and just because you score as a Jr. against NC doesnt mean you get 1st team all-american.   :)

As it has been every year since 1999, by the way.

Mr. Ypsi

Nice find, Q.  With all the injuries Wheaton had this year, they sure could have used him - Mugsy's probably wondering if he might have been just enough to pull them through! ;)
