Mr. Ypsi

Good news, bad news for the CCIW in the final d3football poll:

Good: NCC picked up 207 points (to 332) and jumped from #20 to #11.  Apparently the voters DID take note of more than the final score vs. UWW! :)

Bad: Wheaton (without playing a game) lost all but 15 of its 116 points, falling from #22 to the equivalent of #32.  I would have thought that their win over NCC, coupled with NCC's dramatic rise, would have cushioned the 'out of sight, out of mind' fall a bit more than that.  All the non-tourney teams declined (expectedly, to make way for teams like Curry, NC Wesleyan, etc.), but I didn't notice any falling nearly as dramatically as the Thunder. :(

[More bad news, though hardly unexpected: IWU had 2 points in the final regular-season poll, but none in the final poll.]

Yes, you are overreaching.  ;D Unfortunately, there still remains a big gap from NCC and top teams. NCC throughout the season had too many penalties, too many turnovers. You can't get away with that if you want to compete with the best teams in Div III.

Am I overreaching when I say that due to the Cards playing UUW tough...they may not be that far away?

I believe this award and the d3.com awards are the 2 best AA awards.

We are glad to be considered in that company. :)

I think the d3.com awards have earned increasing credibility to those outside d3 over the years. Pat, your process is fair and proven and has resulted in the right people/teams being honored more times than not.

How does the All-american teams relate to the all-region teams. I noticed that the IWU Saftey was a thrid team All-region and an Honorable Mention All-american, so shouldn't he be a 1st or 2nd team All-Region. I noticed this was the case in alot of All-american vs All-region.

I know this came out early in December and I probably missed the posts, but Hats off to Illini stud LB J Leman (brother of former Wheaton LB JD Leman) for being selected to the 2007 ESPN.com All-America 1st Team Defensive Unit.

Scandal?  I just noticed that the poster is leading a double life, and still posting as Billy Pilgrim on the NCAC bball board. :o  Is that legal under the terms of the bet? :D

I agree with Midwest FB.  This is a HUGE overreach.  Hard to say NCC is getting closer to competing for a National Championship based on: 1) needing a last second TD to win a first round playoff game against a HCAC team whose conference has gone 1-10 since the playoffs expanded;  2) Playing the eventual DIII champ close through the first part of the 3rd qtr before getting blown out by 31 pts and  3) Losing two games in the regular season.  If anything, I actually believe the CCIW is falling further behind the programs who can actually compete for a championship.  Yes the conference has improved overall, but I don't believe more parity in the CCIW will translate into a team winning the Stagg Bowl.  IMO, it will lead to the CCIW rep(s) getting beat in the first or second round (with an occassional trip to the quarters) much like we have seen over the past many years.  Hopefully, a CCIW team will prove me wrong, but based on watching the quality of the Stagg Bowl teams over the past several years and seeing the better teams in the CCIW play, there is a big difference between our best and the best in the country.

Redman04 has to be the judge, but for me it is still good.  I only consider basketball an activity that was developed so the skinny kids could have something to do during Wrestling Season.

That means a lot...

It's my goal this off-season to get into positive K. :o  That would be quite a turn around from last season.

Chuck was joking, Redmen96. He's well aware of the fact that the poster who identifies himself as Billy Pilgrim who posts in the NCAC basketball room is a former Earlham basketball player, not the pro-Wheaton football fan who has recently conceded paternal rights to your fellow Carthaginian.

Hopefully it is paternal...

I've heard it used in other scenarios as well.  I mean after all, it is pretty cold in Kenosha during the winter and those Redmen probably get awfully board and lonely.  Maybe that's what makes a Redman red. ???

Flinging a salacious insult at Redmen96's alma mater sounds to me like someone's itching to get his "Get Out Of Karma Jail Free" card revoked.  ;)  :D
