Whoo  hoo  Congrats to the Pats!!  You guys got to be excited for the possibility of them sweeping the season and having those Dolphins put away their champagne bottles forever.

I'm VERY excited.  I've been wanting to tell those Dolphins where they can stick their champagne bottles for quite some time.

The board is dead, so I thought I would inject some life by posting CCIW New Year resolutions for each team:

1.   North Central – to be losing to Wheaton at halftime in 2008
2.   Illinois Wesleyan – not only win conference but make the playoffs
3.   Wheaton – health and longevity and to never have to take Pete Ittersagen off the field
4.   Carthage – consistency in play and increased financial donations from Redman04 and Tailgater to repair the visitor bleachers
5.   Elmhurst – ability to both run and stop the run
6.   Augustana – finding a way to return to the good ole days of smash mouth football
7.   Milikin – find a supporter* to regularly post on D3football.com
8.   North Park – Win...just one. And, for more devote followers like Mr. Sager

This is in Around the Nation Year in Review-

"More than one Division III player could get drafted by an NFL team, marking consecutive years for that accomplishment. Whitworth's Michael Allan and UW-Whitewater's Derek Stanley were each seventh round picks last season, and both stuck. This time around, Wheaton defensive end Andrew Studebaker projects as an NFL outside linebacker, and despite missing parts of his senior year due to injury, he is still ranked 31st among 228 outside linebackers on NFLDraftScout.com, a reputable service used by USA Today. The service gave the 6-3, 245-pounder a draftable grade, and projected him in the sixth round, although those assessments are admittedly fluid."

This answers a lot of questions being asked earlier on the Board about the possibility of which d3 players might get drafted to the NFL. The entire article is very good. Check it out. Good luck to Studebaker!

+k to "Daddy" for the Bob Meyer reference.  You have to give out karma when a post makes you laugh out loud at work.

I think there are a few teams that have a bunch of New Year's Resolutions as their program(s) are showing some major gaps.
I think this season is wide open with 4-5 teams really poised to make a run.  There are 2-3 teams that need some help, and questions answered quickly during the off/pre season, and I know I said this last year, but I really feel/HOPE that North Park gets a win here in 2008.   :-*

Let's keep going with this...  When Santa came down the chimney this past Christmas, here are his CCIW stocking stuffers:

1.   North Central – Skintastic Off! - family size
2.   Illinois Wesleyan – Soulja boy single – Crank Dat
3.   Wheaton – Super-oxidized healing water from Düsseldorf Germany
4.   Carthage – A Field Turf gift certificate, because Fanthrope "ripped it up" on Nov. 10th
5.   Elmhurst – Reebok Pump Cleats... to try and get the running game going in 08
6.   Augustana – A year supply of A&E Egg Nog to beef up the O-linemen
7.   Milikin – Scoring In The Red Zone by Nathan Tillman

Oh boy, here we go again.......  ;)

Please don't tell me you are once again throwing Elmhurst in the mix as a team poised to make a run?   ::)

Ah, but that's the beauty of the preseason.  I know Elmhurst's season did not turn out quite how they wanted it to, and I believe Kudyba was a Senior, but what impact players are the Jays returning next year?  Has there been news of any stellar recruits?  Perhaps Jaybird knows something we do not...

4-5 teams I meant
Wheaton, North Central, IWU, and Augie  and possibly 1 more.  I know Elmhurst has some work to do because they did lose a few key players.
