I seem to remember the Norris-Dreyer Connection runs through Naperville.  I believe there is a brass bell on that train.

Very Mugsyesque of you MB! I am impressed.

Mugsyesque...  Hmm, not quite "Sagerian", but I'll take it.  As long as it is not meant to imply "boneheadedness".

Is it bad that I'm counting down the days  until spring ball starts?

At least there is spring ball.  When I played there was just spring "get your but up at 5:30 am and be down to the track for spring run your a-- off at 6:00" because we couldn't touch a ball.
We will always be REDMEN

For my first 3 years we did that in the winter and then were given a reprieve in the spring and were allowed to run in the afternoon at "regular practice time."  Still not much better...

I prefer to count the days until we retain the bell for yet another year. ;D

Must be depressing for you, having to count all those thousands of days and all... :) ;) :D ;D

Sagerian:  Making statements, sayings, facts, or trivia which inform and entertain while commentating on Division III athletics, North Park hijinks, and various other topics, often in a lengthy fashion or responding to quotations by others.

Mugsyesque:  Making a statement, often through use of humor, that reminds individuals of the outcome of the Little Brass Bell Game or Series between Wheaton College and North Central College, with the statement almost always favoring Wheaton College.

As soon as I sign off for the final time of the season, I start counting down the days until the subsequent opening day.   We didn't have Spring practice (with pads) when I played, but we had conditioning, 7 on 7 passing drills, linemen technique sessions, and more or less everything with the exception of pads.

Pat, quick question:

Traditionally, which month of the year produces the least amount of posts on d3football.com?

Attached is the bio on Augie's new D Coordinator

Rob Cushman (Defensive Coordinator)

Rob Cushman will be in his first year as Augustana's defensive coordinator in 2008. Cushman comes to the Vikings from Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York, where he served as defensive backfield coach and special teams coordinator. A graduate of the University of Puget Sound inTacoma, Washington, Cushman brings to Augustana extensive experience at several levels during a 29 year-coaching career.

In his one season at Ithaca, Cushman helped the Bombers to an 8-3 record and a berth in the 2007 NCAA Division III playoffs. Prior to Ithaca, he spent five years as head coach at Feather River College in Quincy, California, where he had the responsibility of building the small community college's program from scratch starting in 2002. His first team there went an impressive 6-5 and his teams finished over .500 and advanced to a bowl game in each of his five seasons. His best season was 2003 when the Golden Eagles went 9-2 and won the Tri-Counties Bank Holiday Bowl. Cushman's overall record at Feather River was 34-21, a winning percentage of .618.

Prior to his stint at Feather River, Cushman coached for 15 years at Eastern Oregon University in LaGrande, Oregon. He served as the Mountaineers defensive coordinator from 1987-1996, before becoming the head coach, a position he held for five years. His best season there was 1998 when the Mountaineers went 6-4, the school's best record in 18 years, and finished the year ranked 25th in the final NAIA national poll. He was also the Mountaineers head baseball coach during his first ten years at the school.

Cushman has also held head coaching positions at St. Helena High School in St. Helena, California and Marysville High School in Marysville, California, as well as stints as an assistant at Butte Community College in Oroville, California, where he was their defensive coordinator, and Cal State-Chico, where he coached defensive backs as a graduate assistant.

Rob is a graduate of Hood River Valley High School in Hood River, Oregon. He moved on to the University of Puget Sound, where he was a four-year letter winner and two-year starter for the Loggers, who went 9-2 during his senior year and were ranked 9th in Division II. He received his Master's from Cal State-Chico.

Any Carthage fans know the (correct) time for the Elmhurst/Carthage game this fall?

Elmhurst's website says it is a 6pm game  and Carthage's website says it is a 1pm game.

Just my opinion, but I really had a good time with Tailgater & Son of Tailgater 2 years ago for a night game at Carthage, and would prefer to have the game at night.
