Sorry to hear that Tom is leaving. Just because its late EC will be all right. They have to make sure they get the right fit. Last year the new coach at Lakeland did not start till early July and they tied for their conference title, it was a good overall fit for their program. If they have an internal candidate and I know they have some very good assisants then that would be as seamless transition as possible. However, being a member of the CCIW, which is a class and good conference, I would look outside and see if there is a coach with experience that fits their mold. Maybe someone like Steve Bell from Monmouth or the head coach at St. Norberts. Paul their AD is a very good AD and he will make the right choice. Good Luck to you and the Jays.

Mr. Ypsi

On the other hand, if they hire from the outside, they are 'screwing' some other school by even a few more weeks than they got left in the lurch.  If they have anyone on staff who would be a competent HC (permanent or interim), that would seem to me the more ethical approach.

Good luck to the Blue Jays (except October 25th, of course ;)).

Thank goodness the frontpage now has something other than an article on a punter...  I know the summer is slow and after a brutal schedule for Pat, Keith, etc... they need a break.  But to leave an article on the front page about a kicker for close to a month...   :P

Sorry dude -- we were also working on getting D3jobs.com up to speed, getting Jim Matson set up on D3soccer.com, plus I'm moving this summer so I've been spending a lot of time packing and doing fix-ups around the house. :(

I fully understand... as I mentioned, I know you guys are busy and are coming off a busy year.  Just making light of a kicker getting so much pub.

I really like Tom Nichols.  I am sure that he would do a great Job as HC.

It,s official! On Elmhurst websight Journell is in deed stepping down as the Bluejays head coach to take the D- coordinator position @ U.W. Stevens-point. The search for his replacement is underway. I know my son was upset because Journell was one of the main reasons he chose Elmhurst to play football.

He left because John Sedeska is now coaching in the CCIW... All other coaches will soon do the same!  :D

Because John Sedeska recently had the idea to sell his urine as a canned beverage. We know this beverage as Red Bull.   ;D

Redman, do you see that line behind you?  It's called the gross factor, and you just crossed it.  :)

Sergeant Hulka: Lighten up, Francis.   :D :D :D

I am going out on a limb and calling for elmhurst to hire tim lester from NCC as head coach. has been at EC before, Krohn knows him, is a CCIW guy now and it would hurt NCC!! let's get this done!

I talked to Journell earlier this evening. Story is on the front page, including the answer to the "why" question.

Have I ever mentioned that I dislike you?!   ;D  Actually, that is the first thing that popped into my head when I heard that.  The other one was Rick Ponx, who is the other assistant head coach at NCC.  Rick is also the O-line coach and recruiting coordinator.  Both would be excellent head coaches.  One thing to consider:  Ponx is an Elmhurst alum!

If one of them takes the Elmhurst job, could they take at least 1/3 of the NCC players as well.  Again... anything to weaken NCC would be welcome.

All very interesting possibilities.

I'm sure Elmhurst will find a qualified candidate that will best represent EC.
Todd Nichols or Tim Lester were 2 guys I thought of also.  I also thought perhaps Paul Krohn might return to the HC slot.  I'm anxious to hear/find out who the Jays select.

Re: Elmhurst/Journell - Surprising in some ways, not surprising in others for all the reasons mentioned.  As we've all discussed in the past, making that kind of a decision is very difficult for anyone.  The timing is always difficult as well, but at least he didn't leave about 3 weeks before the start of pre-season camp as has happened at other places in past history.

I'm sure there are a number of very good and qualified candidates for the job.  Yet, in a sense, I also think it would be neat to see Tim Lester return there as Head Coach if he's interested.  He is a proven coach, did well everywhere he's been at from DIII Elmhurst, DII St. Josephs and DI Western Michigan.  No doubt, though, that the NCC supporters would not be happy if he "goes back to a rival".  It will be interesting to see what transpires, although I'm sure we all agree that this will be taken care of in an expedient way as "time is short".

I can't think of any NCC players that would transfer schools to follow a coach.  The players respect the coaches, but are loyal to one another, at least when I was there.  I do know, however, that Coach Ponx has done a fantastic job with recruiting this year, and Coach Lester is very charismatic, so they could potentially steal recruits away from NCC in the future if they were to assume the HC job at Elmhurst.

Sorry... I didn't adequately add icons to indicate my level of sarcasm.  I guess a poor attempt at humor.  If you interpret usee's post as a light hearted comment on how to hurt NCC... my post makes more sense.

I believe CardinalAlum, usee and a few others would understand the implied sense of "buffoonery" in most of my posts.  If you do read my post literally, it is quite nonsensical.  1/3 of NCC players (or players from any other team) would not leave because a coach does so.

Anyway... if you need to explain a joke to the level I have had too here... then apparently it wasn't too funny.  Moving on...
