He was not on the 2007 roster and I don't have any knowledge as to why.

5.27 40 yd. dash might have something to do with it!!   ;D

No doubt.  A reasonable number of linemen can run 5.3 40's these days.

Not unlike most offensive schemes these days, Wheaton FB's are not called on to carry the ball too much.  You don't need to be the swiftest of foot.  Just lead into the hole and knock the snot out of somebody...

That's more fun than running the ball anyway.

Hmmm ... mighty strange, usee, since that looks an awful lot like the CCIW non-conference slate. :D

Greg, you're slipping - it took you almost 6 minutes to respond to that! ;D

I don't see a single game on the slate that looks out of reach, and a few that should be cakewalks.  I'll go with a minimum of 17 CCIW wins, and 20 would not surprise me.

Aunt Harriet was having a dinner party here in stately Wayne Manor, so I wasn't able to slip away immediately to take the call when Commissioner Gordon saw usee's post and picked up the receiver on the bright red phone.

You should consider going wireless Greg.  Phones today do have vibrate mode.  Dinner party or no, people might not even consider it rude if you take the call immediately.  Besides, it always takes Ypsi a couple of minutes to change into his red and green outfit with yellow cape and switch on his voice changer to Burt Ward/Casey Kasem mode.

These days it takes him longer and longer to find a phone booth in which to change, however.  Those things are getting as scarce as an Edsel dealership.

Campbell @ Carthage

Since I didn't know anything about Campbell I looked them up.
Here is the football homepage: http://www.gocamels.com/SportSelect.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=15300&KEY=&SPID=7313&SPSID=65455

Looks like they are starting in Pioneer League play this year.  Drake, Butler, Valparaiso, and others are in this football only conference, which I believe does not allow scholarships.  http://www.pioneer-football.org/

CardinalAlum-  I am confident (now) that I would pencil in Lester at Elmhurst.  I didn't want to say anything before, but it's 90-95% like it's Lester.  Perhaps Todd Nichols wants to stay focused on the defense?  Don't know for sure.

Hard to predict the non-conference portion of the schedule but there are some great matchups in the early going.  I'll go as far as to predict the opening week.
Elmhurst over Benedictine
Carroll over North Park
Coe over Augustana
Hope over IWU
Millikin over Ill. College
VOICE OF THE BLUEJAYS '01-'10
CCIW FOOTBALL CHAMPIONS 1978 1980 2012
CCIW BASKETBALL CHAMPIONS 2001

2018  & 2024 CCIW PICK EM'S CHAMPION

Mr. Ypsi

79jaybird, comments on three of your picks:

Considering the relative strength of the CCIW and MWC in football, and that Carroll is middle-of-the-pack in the MWC, if North Park is hoping to finally break through in the conference this year, they'd better be at least the equal of Carroll.

If Augie is to get back to their usual threat for a CCIW title, they'd better be able to handle what IIAC posters seem to view as the #3-#5 team AT HOME.

IWU CANNOT lose in Holland!  I plan to be there, and I haven't seen an IWU loss in 39 years - I don't plan to start now!  (Yeah, yeah, I haven't seen an IWU football WIN in 39 years either - details, details! :D)

I see that Hope plays IWU, Carthage, and Wheaton this year - does the CCIW charge dues for 'affiliate members'? ;D

Carthage was to play Valpo but the schedule was changed to play Campbell.  Carthage will play the Whittier Poets and the Campbell Fighting Camels back to back years...

We should ask someone from Rose-Hulman, since RHIT is an associate member of the CCIW. The Engineers participate in the CCIW in two sports, men's swimming and women's swimming.
