CCIW guys, be sure to check out the OAC Pick-Em's again.  We've enjoyed your participation over the years.

The spreads will be posted in the next day or so.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

I've just spend a couple of pleasant hours comparing non-con schedules with the Kickoff rankings.  Without giving away too many specifics (buy your own danged copy! :D), lest I incur the wrath of Pat and Keith, here are the predicted outcomes:

Augie: 20 slots behind Coe, but it's at home (call it); should blast Greenville at home, ranked way above UWP, but away (probably a win); 2-1 or 3-0.

Carthage: should go 3-0 (Cambell is an unknown, since this is their first season in 58 years - are they scholarship or no?)

Elmhurst: should beat Benedictine and Chicago at home, underdog at Olivet; 2-1.

IWU: should whip Alma at home and Aurora on the road, slight favorite at Hope; 3-0 or (shudder!) 2-1.

Millikin: underdog to Loras, toss up at Ill. College and home to Albion; anywhere from 0-3 to 2-1.

NCC: should easily win at Benedictine and Olivet, slight favorite hosting ONU; 3-0.

NPU: solid underdog at Carroll and hosting RHIT, toss up hosting Benedictine; 1-2 or 0-3.

Wheaton: should win on the road at CUW and Hope, will be slight underdog hosting #5 Bethel; 2-1 or 3-0.

Wheaton is the only conference team with a non-con schedule whose opponents rankings add up to less than 300 (except Carthage, since Campbell is not d3).

Campbell is in the Pioneer Conference with Valpo, Drake and others and are non-athletic scholarship.

For those CCIW folks willing to cross conference boundaries to have a little fun, the spreads for week 1 of the OAC Pick-Em's has been posted.

We can't watch it live, but tonight'sd Eagles/Jets game might be Andy Studebaker's best shot at making the final 53 man roster.  From the Eagle's website:

Players to Watch in Tonight's Game

Andy Studebaker: The defensive end-turned-linebacker has made plays in the preseason, most notably forcing a fumble in the Panthers game. He is in the mix for the sixth linebacker spot. He should see a lot of time on the field. Can he carve a spot on this squad, like Jordan did a year ago?

I'm hoping that he plays to the best of his ability.  It would be a real win for Wheaton and CCIW to have Studebaker make this squad.

Unless Studebaker gets injured or really plays poorly, I think he has at least locked up a spot on the practice squad - most likely the Eagles and if not, then someone else's.  His physical measurables combined with the fact that he hasn't looked out of his element athletically against NFL level athletes, will give someone the incentive to be patient with his development curve transitioning from D3 to the NFL, and from DE to OLB.

I don't think he makes the PS...he won't clear waivers.  He will end up somewhere.

Studebaker didnt make any stats this evening which probably wont help his chances.   I am not sure about NFL waivers, but I can imagine he will be picked up..maybe the Bears could use some help?

The radio guys said he had a tackle and another combined sack with Mays so I don't get the stat sheets - but he didn't get that much time on the field either.  I think the coaches have made their decision about Andy and were looking to see how others played tonight.

My guess is they didn't want to play him too much so other teams could see him. I think they will try to waive him and get him on their practice squad.

The other option is that tonight it was more important how rocky boiman played than andy. They may be saying ig boiman doesn't separate himself we are going w the young guy.

Either way we'll know saturday.

Does he still get paid his contract? or is there some sort of other compensation?

Garcon made the team for the Colts.  Good for him!  Congrats to Mount Union and the OAC on that one.
