Mr. Ypsi

Sorry to bust your balloon, Redmen, but you don't seem to have a logo - it just shows up as a big square with an X in it!

Check your posts from a different site and I expect you'll see!

Mugsy, great post #146 all of those will come into play.  I was on the team when Elmhurst beat Wheaton 22-16 which shocked everybody at that time... including us.  I know Jim Loeffler and I have talked about that game.  That was one of the events which sparked the Wheaton dynasty.
No gloves- you have 1-5 and 1-5 for NPU.. there are 7 CCIW games.  ;D
FYI-  Elmhurst vs. Benedictine can be heard on WRSE FM 88.7 or http://www.wrse.com   I will probably start the broadcast about 6:30ish.  The frequency is soso but if you listen on the CPU, it comes in very nicely.

jaybird,
You had to bring up the 22-16 game against Elmhurst... :(  Talk about ruining a season for one team!  Wheaton was stream rolling at 7-0 prior to that game, while Elmhurst was 1-6.

Since the CCIW appears to be wide-open this year with no clear cut favorite, it'll be interesting to see what games we reflect on at the end of the season that may have the same impact, if any...

Wheaton followers,

Looking forward to a quality scimmage this Saturday vs. Wabash.  Should be a good test for both squads.  I'd guess both teams will have some questions answered.  What should we expect to see as strengths and weaknesses?  I'd hope you will see (from Wabash) a very tough defense (great LB corps, solid front), talented/athletic WRs, and a good O-line.

Just curious on your outlook...

Redmen96

I believe that I have solved the technical difficulties.  Please let me know if you can see my non offensive Native American logo now.

P.S.  We have also been getting letters from certain bird lover groups and they are offended by the mis-representation of the flying species.

BashBacker90,
I think Saturday's scrimmage is huge for both teams.  I really think it is smart for Wheaton to schedule a scrimmage against a quality team like Wabash.  I think it'll really give both coaches a feel for what they have, where they need work, and to confirm what strengths they have.

Over the past 3 years scoring 40+ pts a game has been the norm for Wheaton.  This year there are more questions on the offensive side of the ball.

I'd expect Wheaton's defense to be much more impressive than years past.  IMO, the primary strength of Wheaton's defense is the front line.  A lot of experience and a lot of depth.  Same with Wheaton's secondary - particularly Todd Travis (6' 4" 205lb free safety who can really hit).  Primary questions on defense will be the OLBs and the health of Jeff Grandy (MLB and captain who was lost after 2nd game in 04' for the season with a knee injury).  Has Grandy's knee healed to where he can return to his previous ability?  He is the leader of this group and key to the defense.

On offense, we graduated an incredibly talent group of receivers.  I can't remember the last time Wheaton didn't have some talented receivers though.  There is a 6' 5" receiver who is expected to step up, along with a transfer from Carthage, Matt Bradley, whose cousin (I think) was a very talented QB for Wheaton a few years ago.  Wheaton's starting and backup QB's are the strength of the offense, along with the center and 2 tackle positions.  Questions will be guard play, and relatively inexperienced (but talented) running backs.

Are you going to be at the scrimmage on Saturday?  I unfortunately can't make it due to the long holiday weekend.  But I would love to hear how Wheaton looks from an unbiased opinion.

I look forward to hearing how things go on Saturday and wish Wabash all the best (after Saturday that is). ;D

Mr. Ypsi

Redmen,

Logo now comes in loud and clear.

BUT, it sure looks like my cat's tail (twice), tied to a big red C!   ;D

This will HELP the Redmen vs. the NCAA?  ???

Just jerkin' your chain, but the Redmen's days may be numbered.  :(

I have decided to jump on the avatar bandwagon as well (I think that's what they're called). Hope the right-handed, caucasion male North Central quarterback doesn't offend anyone either!     ;D

I've been thinking about the number of games that I'll probably be attending this season.....I think I'm actually going to be attending MORE games this season than I attended in any year as a student at NCC. Is this normal?  8 out of the 10 regular season games.......jeez. Speaking of which, anyone got any face paint?  :D
You win! You always do!

bashbacker-does wabash travel as well for a scrimmage as they do for a game? i would guess not but with the little giants, one never knows.

i agree w mugsy you will see a better defensive unit than recent wheaton memory. wheaton will throw the ball down the field so you can expect your secondary to be tested. with a relativley young and inexperienced Oline wheaton may not be able to move the ball consistently vs a veteran defense. I won't be able to make the scrimmage but interested in the feedback of any who are there.
