I believe the Blue Boys are Illinois College.  And the Carthage, Illinois high school team as previously discussed.

I knew that.
I just thought that Millikin was the blue boys Also, then changed it

Wasn't there a period a few years back when Carthage went with "Big Red?" Was that something unofficial, or did it just never happen and I'm totally full of crap? Carthage folks?
Redman04, did you get that list from:

www.smargon.net/nicknames/  ?

Great site for nicknames.

boy oh boy. what a big saturday upcoming. both alma matres looking to stay undefeated.

North Central playing for the CCIW championship (obviously assuming they would beat NP the following week)

Ashton-Franklin Center taking their #1 seed into the 2nd round of the class a playoffs.

since A-FC is closer to where i currently live than Augie, it looks like i'll be headin to that game instead.....since it also looks like 2 or 3 of our top players might be heading to North Central (apparently a few of the North Central coaches made the short hour drive west to check them out and have dinner with them a few weeks ago).

make sure you North Central folk give me some updates on here throughout the day!!

Dansand,

Back in the old days when Mugsy and I played, Carthage did indeed coin themselves the "Big Red".  I want to say it was my junior year or so which would make it like 1988.  I don't think it was an official name change, and I don't think it lasted very long.

I was talking with a friend/teammate at Augie and we both remember Carthage going by "Big Red" in the mid 80's.  Neither of us were sure if this was an official or unofficial nickname.  Curious to know the history...

Yes I do recall Carthage going by the "Big Red", but I doubt it was the official name.

MAYBE I SHOULD ADD "BIG RED" TO MY NCAA BAN LIST

Congratulations to Chaz Black for making team of week, I do think that Wheaton offensive line should have been recognized as well for the overall effort of team rushing for 350 yards. (never satisfied, i know)

So what if:

North Central defeats Augie, wins again and finishes undefeated

Wheaton defeats North Park and then defeats Augie, finishing with 2 losses

I believe Wheaton may have a chance for a Pool C under those conditions.
